CHAMPIONSHIP MONTH IN SEPTEMBER

A busy month lies ahead for the club with championship matches throughout all grades over the coming weeks.

Two matches for our Senior Hurlers in consecutive weekends against Cloyne & Fr O’Neills. The Junior Hurlers take on St. Itas while the Junior B’s take on Youghal & Russell Rovers. Then underage, our Under 17 minors have one group game left in both Hurling and Football. Our Under 15 footballers have a Premier 1 Football semi-final to play against Ballincollig & our Under 13’s are in both Premier 1 Football & Hurling semi-finals in the coming weeks.

A busy few weeks ahead but we need your support. Come out, support as many teams as you can. Fixtures are outlined below and on our club text. #CilliathAbú

UNDER 13’s QUALIFY FOR HURLING SEMI FINALS ON BACK OF FOOTBALL SEMI FINALS

Rebel Óg Coiste Under 13 Premier 1 Hurling League

Douglas 1-1 Killeagh 2-13

Killeagh’s Under 13 side played their final group match of the Premier 1 Hurling league, away to Douglas on Friday, 3rd September.

The first quarter was a tight affair with Killeagh leading 0-4 to 0-0 at the first water break. The lads played some great stuff after the water break to lead 1-8 to 0-0 at half time.

The second half saw more of the same. The lads defended well at the back and worked the ball well upfront. We ran out 2-13 to 1-1 winners in the end.

Best for Killeagh on the night were Rian O’Connor (going well at full back), Callum Power (excellent at wing back), Cormac Deane (dominant in the centre), Andrew Brenner (excellent use of the ball), Cathal Brennan, Ben Geary (superb shooting), John Farquhar and Rian Lane.

This result sees us qualify for the Premier 1 Hurling semi-finals where we will face Sars in a fortnights time;

Team: Seán O’Leary; Patrick Dineen, Rian O’Connor, Adam Barry; Callum Power, Cormac Deane, Cormac Delaney; Andrew Brenner (0-2), Alex Howey; Ruben O’Riordan, Ben Geary (1-9), Cathal Brennan; Rian Lane, John Farquhar (1-1), Billy Guerin (0-1). Subs: Darragh Sheehan, Alex Fogarty, Daniel Geary, Seanan McDonnell, Fionan O’Connell

CORK CAMOGIE REACH ALL IRELAND FINAL

Best of luck to Laura Treacy, Chloe Sigerson & Hannah Looney in the All Ireland Camogie final this Sunday. They face Galway in the final and we wish the Killeagh ladies and all the team & management the very best of luck in the final!
