U13’s OFF TO A FLYER IN PREMIER 1 GRADE
Rebel Óg Coiste Fé13 Premier 1 Football Section 3;
Clonakilty 3-7 Killeagh 4-8
Killeagh made the long journey west on Friday 30th July to play Clonakilty in Premier 1 Football League. This was the first game of this phase of the league.
Clonakilty settled quicker and went 0-3 to 0-0 up after 8 minutes. The lads responded well with 1-2 (the goal coming after a great team move was superbly finished by Cormac Deane). Andrew Brenner scored a great goal just before halftime to leave us ahead at the break by 2-4 to 1-4.
In the second half Clonakilty came battling back with two goals in two minutes to see them lead at the water break by a point. The lads showed great resolve to keep going. Andrew Brenner kicked 2 great points. Ben Geary finished expertly for a goal which was followed by a thundering shot for a goal from Sean O’Leary. Ben was fouled and converted the free to see us lead by 4 points at the finish.
It was a fantastic team effort. All 16 lads contributed handsomely to get us off to a great start. Thanks to the supporters who travelled on the night.
Team: Seanan McDonnell; Patrick Dineen, Rian O’Connor, Adam Barry; Alex Fogarty, Callum Power, Cormac Delaney; Cormac Deane (1-0), Alex Howey; Cathal Brennan (0-1), Andrew Brenner (1-4), Ryan Murphy; Rian Lane, Ben Geary (1-3), Sean O’Leary (1-0). Subs: Tony Kenneally
Rebel Óg East Fé12 Football League Group 2;
Cobh 2-1 Killeagh 4-5
Last Monday night, Killeagh’s Under 12 team played away to Cobh in a football match in difficult weather conditions. Cobh started the game very well scoring two early goals and a point before Killeagh registered their first score. After the first water break, Killeagh took control of the game and by half time the game was level.
In the second half Killeagh continued their good performance and established a strong lead which they held out to win the game 4-5 to 2-1. A great showing from the younger members of the team the U11's who played very well and contributed significantly to the win. Next up is away to Cobh again next Monday night in hurling.
Killeagh/Ita’s U-11’s
The boys returned to training on Wednesday evening, May 5th and it’s fair to say that they were mad for road. Their first hurling match was at home to Tracton on Saturday, June 12th and in a ding dong battle, the boys finished strongly to turn a five point deficit into a four point win, Killeagh/Ita’s 2-11 Tracton 2-7. Oisín Conlon, Jay Geary, Eoghan Murphy, Oscar Power and Christopher Connon were best for Killeagh/Ita’s.
The lads were away to Na Piarsaigh for football on the following Saturday and despite the best efforts of Bruce Whelan, Kerry Asibor and Liam Lynch, Na Piarsaigh proved stronger on the day. They found their stride quickly again, however, recording good wins away to Aghada in hurling by a scoreline of 4-10 to 1-12, home to Fermoy in football and home to Fr. O’Neill’s in hurling.
Their most recent outing was on Saturday, July 24th at home to Lisgoold in both codes. The boys played very well against a good Lisgoold side, running out winners by a scoreline of 4-4 1-4 in football and 2-5 to 0-4 in hurling. Charlie Lawton, Cathal Murphy, Mike Murphy, Ciarán Barry and Eolann Deane all shone for Killeagh/Ita’s.
REBELS BOUNTY
The July draw for Rebels Bounty took place last Thursday July 29th in Páirc Uí Chaoimh. We had another two winners. Tim O’Connor who €500 while Lisa Walsh picked up €250. That is now seven winners in seven months and I am sure many more to come for the rest of 2021

We are delighted to hear that a consortium of club members from West Waterford Golf Club have bought the club for €1.25million. It is with great comfort to know the club is back in good hands and that our Classic can continue to work next month.
We have been running our Golf Classic in West Waterford Golf Club for many years and we appreciate all the help they give us every year! Once again, West Waterford Golf Club are allowing us to run for our 25th Annual Classic so we implore you to get out and support the Golf Classic and all at West Waterford Golf Club. Not too many clubs in the country can say they had two Walker Cup players (equivalent of Ryder Cup for amateurs) & one of those to be a PGA Tour winner! It could be you next! Check out the poster attached for more information.
Our annual Killeagh GAA Golf Classic will take place from Wednesday September 1st to Saturday September 4th at West Waterford Golf Club. Yes, that is four days of the 25th Annual Killeagh GAA Golf Classic!
This is the club’s biggest fundraiser this year and we need your help now more than ever. We are looking for sponsors for Tee Boxes, Classic Sponsors & teams to get on board with us. We are inside the final two months before the classic.
If you are interested in playing or helping out in the four-day extravaganza, the good advice is to contact Ray Rochford ASAP to get your optimum timeslot as the Time Sheet is now open!
If you are interested in joining the Killeagh GAA Golf Society for their variety of trips away & outings for 2021 or 2022, give Ray Rochford a call or a text on 087-2330054.
