U19 Football
Glenville 2.16
Erins Own 3.09
Glenville U19 footballers got there third league win on the road on Wednesday evening last against Erins Own in Caherlag. Spectators were treated to a great game of football. At halftime we led 1.07 to 5pts. Our goal coming from Dylan Roche with good build up play from Ryan Murray. The second half was similar to the first, with both sides going at it full trottle. Joe O Riordain got through for a well taken goal, and we tacked on a number of good points this put some daylight between the sides. Eventually Glenville winning out on a scoreline of 2.16 to 3.09 after a good sporting game. Well done to the team and management who now look forward to a semi final in this competition in late june.

U15s
This was the biggest weekend of the year for our U15 squad with the group stages for the county Feile competition on Saturday morning in Carrignavar. Ballinhassig, Croke Rovers and St. Peters were our opponents and it was a fantastic morning of football action with 3 hard fought games. First up was Ballinhassig who flew out of the blocks and we were 3 points down within 5 minutes. With 12 minute halves in these games getting a good start is crucial, but to be fair our lads dug in and a Jack Counihan point followed by a superb goal had us well back in the game. We then settled quickly and tacked on a few more scores to run out winners on a 3-03 to 0-04 score line. Next up were Croke Rovers and this proved to be a very tight affair with a goal from Cathal O’Brien ultimately crucial as the game ended level on 1-04 each. Heading into the last game, we knew St. Peter’s had won both of their games so it was a straight shoot-out with the winner to qualify from the group. For once we settled early, and while there was plenty drama along the way, including a penalty save from goal keeper Louie Guichard, Glenville finished up winners by 4-06 to 2-04. Jack Counihan had a storming performance, supplying 3 of the goals and 5 points, with a fine goal from Cathal O’Brien and a point from Shayne Curtin completing the scoring. It was a fine morning of football and the boys did very well in the 3 games to qualify for Monday’s semi-final as group leaders. On Monday we headed to Passage West for a semi-final against the home team. We knew we were going into the game as underdogs but Saturday’s heroics gave reason for hope and a we had a large contingent of travelling supporters to cheer us on. We had a nightmare start with Passage scoring a goal almost directly from the throw-in, but we got back into it when a well worked goal ended with Jack Counihan finding the net. Unfortunately that was the highlight of the game for us as we had a few chances we didn’t take and Passage took all of theirs so by the end of the first 15 mins we were 3-01 to 1-0 behind. In the second half we tried to push up, but things didn’t go our way and although we had the bulk of possession we couldn’t add to our tally and Passage punished us by exploiting the gaps left in as we pushed up looking for goals. The final score of 5-04 to 1-0 was tough on our lads who worked very hard but on the day Passage were very impressive and fully deserving of the victory. They went on to lose out by one point in a keenly contested final vs. Castlehaven. It was a disappointing end to the weekend for our lads after the high of Saturday morning but there was a lot to take from it and there are better days ahead for this team who are a great bunch of lads. This is a young team, 9 of the 23 players used over the weekend are U15 again next year and they all learned a lot from the experience: Our goalkeeper Louie Guichard was a safe pair of hands throughout; our defenders, Conor McHugh, Billy Ryan Sean O’Leary, Oscar Whelan, Cathal Sheehan, Sean Callinan and Dara O’Neill were solid throughout, Shayne Curtin and Mike O’Riordan manned the midfield engine room over the course of most of the 4 games, and up front we had Eolann Hartnett, Richard Kelleher, Luke Doran-Goode, Cathal O’Brien, Sean Buckley, Colm Buckley, Sammy Haberlin, Jack Counihan, Eoghan Forde, Zach Curtin, Jayden Hennbry, Adam Casey and John Kelleher all contributing over the course of the 4 games. Special mention to captain Billy Ryan who was immense throughout, leading by example from full back, and our player of the tournament Jack Counihan who contributed 6-09 over the 4 games. Next up for this group is a home game for the U15s against Lisgoold this Wednesday, with our U14s at home to Killeagh on Sunday.
U12s
Glenville U12s took on Aghada in the Fe12 football grading league on Monday evening in Aghada. Aghada started strongly, but, Glenville stuck to their task and a goal late in the half meant they trailed by the minimum at the half time break; 2-2 to 1-4.
Glenville got into a good rhythm in the second half reeling off 1-6 unaposed. However a late goal rush from the home side gave Aghada the edge. Aghada winning on a score line of Aghada 7-2 Glenville 2-11.

DADS AND LADS
Dads and Lads is a social football and Hurling programme for those keen to enjoy Gaelic games outside the traditional competitive structures of the GAA.
The philosophy of GAA for Dads & Lads is all about participation and the camaraderie that only team sports can offer. The small-sided adapted games allow for incidental contact only (to minimise any risk of injury) so skills are to the fore over physicality. The games are self-governed – no referees.
We recently started a Dads and Lads football and Hurling group in Glenville and it has proved a great success so far, with numbers increasing every night. It's open to all and no previous experience of playing football is required.
