Killeagh GAA Notes
- Mar 22,2022
By Michelle Murphy PRO Killeagh GAA Club.
MINOR HURLERS OFF TO A TOUGH START
Killeagh 2-12 Carrigtwohill 2-21
Our hurlers had the first outing of the year and after a good showing were beaten by a strong Carrig team. Playing against the wind in the first half we reached the short whistle down by a point, 1-6 to 10points. Sean Meade scored our goal after a good team move out of defence. The work rate and effort from the lads was very evident and from a management perspective we could not ask for anything more.
The defence worked tirelessly and were well supported by our young midfield duo Fionn Brennan and Eoin Roche. It was the same again for the second half until we ran out of steam and Carrig scored heavy in the last quarter. Sean was again the scorer of the second goal when it seemed like he took on the whole Carrig defence.
One downer from today’s game was the injury to another of our promising young lads Oran Cunningham. Oran had a solid game until he had to go off with a broken collarbone. Here is wishing Oran a speedy recovery. Overall, it was a good team effort and the boys must be commended on their attitude.
It would be very easy for them to feel sorry for themselves as at present we are missing a few for various reasons but you wouldn’t know it. They have a lot of work to do but if the lads carry on with the same attitude and commitment, they will not be found wanting at the business end of the season.
