Youghal GAA Supporters Wall

As part of our Facility Development plans, Youghal GAA is building a ‘Supporters Wall’ that will celebrate our great 125 year history. The funds raised will help ensure we can look forward to many more years of success. This is a unique opportunity to be a permanent part of the club’s history, with only a limited number of bricks available to buy. Each brick on the ‘Supporters Wall’ will contain an individual or family name (max 30 characters per brick).

The name or family represented on each brick will remain on our ‘Supporters Wall’ indefinitely for loved ones to come and view, uniting past, present and future members of this great club. You can buy your brick to honour a member, past or present, a parent, grandparent, child, a family member, a friend, or someone associated with the club in the distant past or presently involved. The ‘Supporters Wall’ will give an opportunity to allow families and friends to remember and recognise the names of their loved one’s contribution or association to the club throughout our celebrated history. The monies raised from the ‘Supporters Wall’ will help fund our extensive development plans as outlined on our website, which will benefit our great club, now, and into the future.

Let’s build the future of Youghal GAA by representing the past.

Sponsor a Brick and leave a legacy!

Some Well Deserved Mentions

As a club, we are so lucky with all our volunteers who give of their time in order to improve the ongoing developments that continue constantly.

Well done to those for putting their names forward to do the Combi Tractor Mower training course and completing it on Saturday 17th August.

Well done to the course participants:

* Anthony O’Regan

* Joe Hehir

* Ken Bulman

This course was completed with Jason from JS Training Solutions.

Also, a big shout out to Donal and Pat for all their time, effort and expertise in completing some much needed works recently in Copperalley.

Two dedicated individuals who put their best foot forward for the betterment of the whole club. Their efforts have given a serious push to completing the ongoing improvements in Copperalley and are so much appreciated by us all.

Junior Hurling Report (Alan Hennessy)

Eochaill 2-19 Castlemartyr 1-13

Eochaill 1-12 Fr. O'Neills 4-19

Eochaill 1-21 Cloyne 3-16

Over the past few weeks the club Junior B Hurling team has been involved in championship.

In the first round we played Castlemartyr and got the year off to a good start with a comfortable win.

In the second round we met a very strong Fr. O'Neills team and were well beaten in the end. Having conceded two early goals in the first half we were on the back foot early. The team did well to narrow the gap before half time but lost out to the better team in the second half.

On Saturday night we met Cloyne in the third round and this became a knockout game for both teams.

Short four of the team from the last day, it was a very entertaining game with both teams going at it knowing a win would be required to progress.

Youghal never led in this game and despite our best efforts we lost by a point in the end.

Whilst it was disappointing not to progress out of the group, the introduction of the minor players to Junior Hurling for the year was very refreshing. They adapted well to the step up and hopefully it will stand to them going forward. Playing against more seasoned physical players, they acquitted themselves very well and we wish them well in the minor championship for the rest of the year. Our thanks to everyone who helped out with the team during the year.
