Midleton GAA Club Notes
EAST CORK UNDER 16 CHAMPIONS
Massive congratulations to our U-16 panel and their management who completed the double this year when they defeated Bride Rovers in the East Cork Championship in Pairc Uí Chaoimh on Tuesday night.
A great game of football kept the crowd entertained with nothing between the sides. Fortunately for Midleton a late goal saw us win by two points. This team have a fantastic attitude and never give up and they fought till the very end. Final score Midleton 3-6 Bride Rovers 1-10.
This cup now sits proudly alongside the Cork County Championship cup they won last month. Well done to all the girls and their management team. We would like to wish the very best of luck to the girls who played their last U-16 game and will now move onto the Minor grade.
Last Wednesday we held our annual AGM. Each group had the chance to give an account of their year. Overall it was a great year for ladies football with all groups succeeding in maintaining their high numbers and ensuring ample game time for all girls.
All groups are now on a well deserved break from training. We would like to wish all those who are moving up grades the very best of luck.
All of the current officers of the Club were re-elected for 2024. They are as follows:

WAGPIES AWARDS NIGHT
Best of luck to our Gaelic For Mothers & Others, aka 'The Wagpies' who are holding their first ever annual awards night at our clubhouse at Clonmult Memorial Park on this Friday night....
ORLAGH FARMER'S KENYA TRIP
Later this month, a group of Irish GAA stars (including our own Orlagh Farmer) and musicians will travel to Kenya as part of a Warriors for Humanity campaign in aid of Self Help Africa.
This group of GAA players will take part in only the second ever All-Star, Male and Female game in Africa. The target is for each participant to raise €10,000 by November. The goal is to plant one million trees in Africa in partnership with Self Help Africa who have spent decades working closely with local farmers, communities and experts to be the best at what they do. Each tree we plant will represent a livelihood for an African family.
'An integral part of the project is to train farmers on managing their trees for this purpose. As a result, we know that the trees are looked after and cared for over the years. We want the impact of our work to be felt for many years to come, benefitting future generations and leaving a legacy we can all be proud of.

MIDLETON TOGETHER MUSIC FESTIVAL
What a festival of music we had last Sunday week in Midleton GAA in aid of families affected by recent flooding. A magnificent sum of €16,422 has been raised through ticket sales, GoFundMe page and donations on the day.
These funds will be given to SVP for their dedicated local flood fund.
An awful lot of people made this day possible. Too many to mention individually but this was a classic example of community spirit and a coming-togetherness in aid of a great cause.
Many thanks and well done to all.
Ní neart go cur le chéile - There is no strength without unity.
