JUVENILE CLUB AGM..

The Annual General meeting of the Bride Rovers Juvenile GAA Club was held in the Clubrooms on Thursday night November 24tth with a good attendance. Outgoing Chairman William O Riordan welcomed all present. He reflected on a very busy year in 2022 for the Juvenile Club. He mentioned the huge numbers of players we have and thanked all the Team Managers, trainers and mentors for the huge amount of work put in. In her Runais Report Emma Roddis concluded as follows

In the conclusion of my report I would like to sincerely thank the fellow officer’s of the club who have supported and advised me throughout this year , namely Evelyn and William. Also to mention Jerome and Mike , who were a pleasure to be in  contact with and I am extremely grateful for the advice and guidance you shared with me. I wish to thank the Adult club for their ongoing support of the juvenile club during this year, they were always open and available to help when needed. A special thanks to adult club members Will Twomey, Eoin and Brian Roche for giving up their time to train with the juvenile club this season, it brought great knowledge and enjoyment to the younger players. Thank you to all sponsors and those who gave donations this year , without the local generosity the club would not be in a position to give our player’s the very best. On a special note I wish to mention Rían Sommers, a young player in our club, who, for a 2nd year selflessly harvested and sold honey to raise funds in excess of 1000 euro for our club . Rían you are Bride Rovers Club spirit personified. I wish to also thank my fellow officers in the Ladies’ Club, it’s been a great year from them also. Also I extend our gratitude to John Murphy and Denis Ahern for looking after out pitches and facilities, keeping them in such great condition for all our enjoyment. as well as available for Rebel Og East and Central matches when required. I would like to thank the East Board, Central Board, North Board , Rebel Óg and Cork County Board for their excellent organisation and ease of communications,  as well as the opportunities they offered to our young players such as Munster Activity Days , playing in the Pairc at half time etc. They have offered great support to myself and our club throughout this year. Go raibh maith agat! I would like to acknowledge the help and support from Liam and Ann Maire Barry and their staff in Fermoy Print, the support you offer the club enables us to show our club colours in many different ways and it is very much appreciated. Special thanks also to Fr. Joe and John Arnold for always circulating the latest fixtures and updates regarding Bride Rovers , its means a lot to the player’s when their success is shared in the local newspaper.  Thank you to our club delegate for fixing and co-ordinating matches and the Juvenile Trip To Tipp. To Rían Sommer’s and Evelyn Murphy Juvenile Treasurer throughout the year. A special thank you also to Rosario and Tríona who have worked tirelessly to make our club 100% Complant as well as offering unwavering support to all players and mentors. Thank you to all involved in the organisation of Cúl camp , Jerome, Paddy , Grace, Tríona and Catherine - running a camp for in excess of 200 players is no easy feat and it ran flawlessly. Also a thank you to all volunteers,  club players, mentors and sponsors who made the camp the success it was. Again we would like to thank Brain and Eoin Roche who took time off work to come down and do a day meeting their fans! Also, thank you to Ger Lane, Adult Chairperson,  for popping down to offer encouragement. To my fellow mentors and secretaries thank you so much for making this year such a joy , I am sure you will all agree the club had a phenomenal year - from winning achievements, to invites to blitz and  tournaments, day trips and of course the success of Cúl camp. I thank you all for your hard work, diligence and commitment to the club and the young player’s -I really feel we all have an ongoing positive impact on the lives of the children and helping make memories that will last a lifetime. It’s no easy task to turn up week in, week out in all weathers with a positive attitude but you all do it - thank you! I think anyone who attends the pitch on any given Saturday morning would agree that the atmosphere is palpable as you watch the crowds of young players descend onto the grounds. The experiences and outings we have given our young player’s this year will hopefully give them memories that will mould our future club people and mentors. I would ask like to acknowledge the young player’s themselves from Under 6 to Minors, young whistlers and any youth involved in our club in anyway, without you there is no Club . Thank you for showing up every time its asked of you, spreading our club’s name and colours in a great light & bringing fun everywhere we go even on the wettest of days. You are all a credit to your families, community and parish and to observe the older and younger players having a puc about together or helping each other is a great pleasure to see. Your club is very proud of all your efforts. I wish the minors who are leaving the juvenile club and progressing to the adult club every success in their future hurling & football careers. Finally, on behalf of the juvenile club I would like to remember all families who have lost someone in the past year & extended out sincere condolences. HURLERS IN COUNTY FINAL

 It’s a long, long  time ago since the inaugural under 19 Competitions promoted by the Cork Co GAA Board commenced. Last Sunday our ‘oft postponed County under 19 hurling semi final was final played. For a change Sunday was a bright, sunny day and a fine crowd was present at the 4G pitch in Pairc Ui Chaoimh for our game against the Ballinascarthy/St Oliver Plunkett’s combination Owen Gaels. Though playing against the wind we started well and had plenty possession but a few early wides unsettled us. Gradually though the lads got into their stride and the white flags started to wave. We got on top at centerfield and were five points up after twenty minutes. Indeed but for pointed frees the West Cork side had little scoring threat.  We had the breeze behind us in the second half and our forwards ran riot.  Though we lost Kieran Cotter to a leg injury we continued to pull away from Owen Gaels. Goals from Josh Ahern and Cillian Tobin helped us to a great 2 27 to 1 13 victory and a deserved place in the County Final. Our lineout last Sunday was as follows; Ronan O Riordan Cormac o Sullivan Liam Collins Kieran Cotter Denis Cashman Connor Hazelwood Adam Hynes Ronan o Connell Josh Ahern Cillian Tobin David Barry Adam Walsh Adam Hayes Edmund Cashman Louis Roche Nicky Kelleher Eldon O Connor Cillian Barry Jacob Powell Darragh Kielty Oran Kielty Gearoid Gubbins Ben Knox. The second semi final on Sunday was a real thriller. Though Newtownshandrum led for most of the game they could never get away from a strong Ballinhassig side. In the end Newtown won a great game by 3 22 to 3 20.

CO FINAL ON SUNDAY.

So it’s Bride Rovers v Newtownshandrum in the County Final on next Sunday December 4th. The game will again be played in the 4G pitch at Pairc Ui Chaoimh with a throw in time of 1.30. This team of ours has produced some fantastic hurling at under12, 13,14, 15 16, 17 and 18 levels over the last few years. They are skilled and passionate and will need all these attributes on Sunday next so go for it lads

JUVENILE QUIZ.

They’re still talking about it! In fairness ‘tis no wonder because the Juvenile Club’s ‘Fastest Finger’ Quiz of two weeks ago was novel, entertaining and a brilliant success. We want to especially thank Jerome and paddy for the way they ran the event. Thanks to those who generously sponsored prizes for us Fitzgerald Butchers, Flamengo Redz, Denis Ahern Hurleys, O Dowd Accountants, SPAR Rathcormac, Mike Walsh Groundworks, The Chatterbox and The Rathcormac Inn. The Quiz was a fantastic social and financial success.

SCHOOL OPEN DAY;
