U13s Win League Final!!
Well done to our u13 hurlers who defeated Kiltha Óg in Ballinacurra last Saturday in the Division 1 hurling league Rebel Óg East final. The match was played in excellent conditions and the pitch was a credit to Ballinacurra. Castlelyons made a great start to the game, leading 1-05 to 0-1 after 15 minutes. We didn’t allow Kiltha Óg to get a foothold in the game through the massive work rate from 1 to 15. We were leading 2-9 to 1-5 at half time but we faced into a slight breeze into the 2nd half.
The lads started the 2nd half brightly and managed to stretch the lead with some fine scores. In fairness to the Dungourney/Castlemartyr combination they tried hard and managed to reduce the deficit with 2 goals. The Castlelyons team showed phenomenal heart to push on again and get two goals of our own to restore our advantage. Kiltha Óg are a very good team and kept battling until the end. Thankfully the referee blew the whistle with our lads having a healthy lead. We won a brilliant game of hurling on a scoreline of 4-13 to 3-6. Our lads should be very proud of the way they performed on the day. There was some brilliant skill and effort on show. We would like to say a big thanks to Kiltha Óg for the game. We will meet again down the line. Special congratulations to all the panel members who have trained so hard all year and received their reward with a superb victory. Special thanks to James Ronayne who is the team sponsor and we would like to thank him for his continued support over the years. Special thanks to all the parents and supporters for their dedication throughout the year. Castlelyons Abú!!

Pitch Starting to Take Shape
Drainage works have just about completed, and we are ready to start mixing topsoil with the sand to create the pristine surface of our sand based pitch. Pipes have been laid for our irrigation system that will service both pitches. Future droughts will hopefully be of no concern to us now. We are nearing a critical point in the development and hopefully we will be able to get the surface levelled and get grass seeds sowed soon. Thanks again to everyone who has contributed to so far. Donations are still needed so if you wish to contribute, please contact our treasurer Mick Spillane at 0868196232.
