Junior Football Championship Preview

April Fools Day 2011 is crunch day for Timmy Mulchahy's side as they face a key Championship opener against Erins Own , which throws in at Carrigtwohill at 6.45 pm. Preparations have gone well for the lads with match opportunities afforded to many established and fringe players , and the management team will have many hours of head scratching this week before they arrive at the final permutation for the tie.

Sure to lead the line will be Cork U21 panel;ist John Cronin , who will be aided in a youthful attack by John McCarthy and Barry Aherne . Wayne Kingston and Eoin Riordan will push for inclusion in the midfield area whilst the defensive jersies will be sought by Brioan O'Leary , Noel Connery and Patrick O'Mahony .

All in all , a good entertaining hour is ahead of us on Friday , and with the clocks changed , the home grass cut , we''ve no excuse but to take the short back road to Carrig after the tea on Friday and enjoy the first big Championship game of 2011 .

Under 14 Hurling League

Mayfield were the visitors to Lisgoold to take on our Fe 14 hurlers in the first round of the League games. After an exciting hour's hurling, we came away with a victory. Overall it was a very good team performance against a much bigger and physically stronger team.

The opening point of the day came from Caolan O'Brien followed by 2 points from Kieran Cashman. Jack Ryan scored the next 2 points followed by a brilliant goal and 2 more points from Rian Hogan and Ciaran O'Shea gave a half time result of 1-7 to 5 points. Mayfield were the first to score in the second half but with 2 more points from Caolan and Kieran Cashman and 2 points from Liam O'Shea, gave us a hard earned victory.
