IH L Aghada 1-16 Aghabullogue 1-13

Aghada opened their account in the I H League Div 2 with a great win over Aghabullogue in Aghabullogue last Sunday. Despite losing Ger Melvin and J P O’Connor in the warm up Aghada turned on the heat with Michael Russell outstanding at centre back. Aghada led at the short whistle by the narrowest of margins after playing with the wind.

Aghada resumed where they left off in the second half and went 4 points ahead as Trevor scored freely. On entering the last Quarter Aghabullogue got a dodgy goal to narrow the gap.

Billy Hennessy was red carded for calling the refs attention to this. Now Aghada faced an up hill battle with 14 men against the wind. Aghada dug deep with minors William Leahy and Tim Hartnett to the fore. Tony Wall was also prominent scoring the all important goal.
