Castlemartyr GAA Club Notes

03 January, 2011

Long Puck Our annual long puck was held as usual on St. Stephens’s morning. Following the thaw on Christmas night and an inspection of the roads the following morning, the event was given the green light and everyone headed to Kilmountain cross with hopes of arriving in Castlemartyr in as few shots as possible. When the scores were checked a winning team was declared. Jason Barrett, Brendan Barrett and Maurice O’Keeffe were crowned champions for 2010 with a fine score of 44 shots. Many thanks to the organisers of the event, John Walsh and Donagh McCarthy who even managed perform miracles with the weather and also to Cliffords bar and Noel Curtin who sponsored the prizes. Victory Dinner Dance This year’s victory social will take place on Sat January 29th 2011 in Garyvoe hotel. Both junior hurling teams will be receiving their East Cork medals so a great night is assured with ‘The West end Boys’ providing the entertainment. Tickets are available from Cliffords, Village Greengrocer, Shortts, Sportsman’s Inn, Dave Fleming , Cha O’Neill, Mick Leahy, Damien Roche, Carey Joyce, William Martin or Donagh McCarthy.
