County Minor Football Championship
Lios gCul 2.09 Kilmichael 7.09
This game was the subject of a very late venue change , as the game was switched to Carrigtwohill , and was played on a very brisk Bank Holiday Monday afternoon . The alteration did not impact on the sizeable support that greeted the recently crowned East Cork Champions though , who , it was felt , would be "up against it" in their foray into the County Championship proper. The Muskerry boys , displaying a degree of physicality and mobility that we found to match , ran out convincing victors at the conclusion of what was an entertaining tie . At the end of a see saw season , Manager Owen Hegarty will be pleased with his tenure of the East Cork Champions , even if the County Championship campaign was a step too far this year .
The dead ball skills of Captain Jamie Woods kept us in touch throughout , and a superb penalty execution was the highlight of his hour , whilst others to perform well were John McCarthy , John Cashman , Brendan Flynn and Cathal Cashman , each of whom showed the benefits of a season long training , and each of whom will surely add value to our adult team coaches development plans , as they eye the 2011 season ahead .

Parnell Park, Dublin was "huckelbucking" to the sound of Derek Burke on Friday night , as the popular Crystal Swing front man led his Castleisland charges to All Ireland victory on RTE's Celebrity Bainisteoir programme. The affable Lisgoold man proved a worthy champion in the popular TV programme , and his management abilities were evident as the programme developed . Rumours that Kerry manager Jack O'Connor was looking nervously over his shoulder at the success experienced by yet another Cork Football manager are unfounded . Congratulations to Derek on his continued success , and to his Kerry side who obviously benefited greatly from the influence of the Lisgoold man's imput .

Many congratulations to fellow East Cork side Cloyne whose three in a row successes in East Cork Junior Football was finally rewarded on Sunday with outright victory in the County Championship Final against Whites Cross . The vistory for this Cloyne side was well deserved and gives a philip to all other sides whose aim is to emulate the success of this Cloyne team . Congratulations from all at CLCG Lios gCul , and hopefully Cloyne will progress and annex Munster and All Ireland successes to add to their County Final win.
