Child Protection Seminar Saturday November 6th 2010 at Rochestown Park Hotel from 10.30am to 2.30pm

The Cork GAA Board are pleased to convey an invitation to representatives of all clubs and units of the Association in Cork to this our first Child Protection Seminar to be held on Saturday week , November 6th 2010 at Rochestown Park Hotel.

The aim of the Seminar is to provide practical guidance and information to all clubs on the GAA Code of Best Practice in Youth Sport, the GAA Code of Behaviour when Working with Underage Players and the GAA Guidelines for Dealing with Allegations of Abuse.

Specific emphasis will be placed on the role of the Children's Officer and Designated Person at Club level. Workshops to outline the duties associated with these roles will form part of the Seminar.

Further topics will include the Irish Sports Council / GAA Basic Awareness in Child Protection Four Hour Course, the use of Mobile Telephones and Garda Vetting.

The Board are pleased that Dr. Joe Sullivan, an internationally recognised Consultant Forensic Psychologist has kindly accepted our invitation to attend and he will be our keynote speaker.

We are appreciatve of the support received from The National Children's Officer of Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Gearóid Ó Maoilmhichíl and we are delighted that he along wih other members of the National Child Protection Committee will also be in attendance.

Details of training dates for people willing to serve as Children's Officer and Designated Person at club level will also be outlined on the day.
