Glenville GAA

Glenville concluded the div 2 football league campaign but unfortunately lost out on qualification for the final by just one point. The final will now be contested by Bishopstown and o Donovan Rossa. Glenville had three games last week and with Na Piarsaigh unable to play the remaining two games between Aghada and Beara were played on Tuesday and Thursday night.

We defeated Aghada by 1-7 to 1-5 with Eoin o Reilly getting the goal after we were 1-4 to 0-3 behind at the break. A strong second half display saw us nudge ahead at the end in a good showing. Then on Thursday night we travelled to Cloughduv to play Beara strong first half wind assisted was the catalyst to this win and with early goals from John Dorgan and Paudie Cahill gave us a 2-4 to 0-3 at half time. With driving wind and rain Glenville had to pull out all the stops to keep the Beara men at bay which they duly did and secured the win 2-4 to 0-5 in the end.

Junior football

Glenville juniors played the Roundy house cup in Ballyhooly on Friday night and won out 2-13 to 0-9.Well done to the players who took part and Ballyhooly club for inviting us. We were relegated to Div 2 of the junior football league along with Aghada.

Minor Football

Big weekend for the minor footballers when we cross paths again with Erins Own in the minor A football championship final. Both sides met in the first round where Glenville were very lucky to win out by a point. The final is fixed for this Saturday in Castlelyons at 4pm so support would be great for the lads.

This team completed their league campaign last week with two wins over Killeagh/Itas and Kiltha Og and qualified for the league final also against Kiltha Og. Best of luck to all concerned.

U14 league final

Glenville by virtue of a semi final win over Carrig na bhFear have qualified for the final against Cloyne. This game is on Tuesday night in Fouhys at 7pm.The team have played a few games also in the past week against Eire Og, Glanmire, Whites Cross and Douglas so should be in good shape for the final.
