Bride Rovers GAA Notes.

Well Done U 12's.

Our u12 hurlers had a great win last Saturday when capturing the County title at Caherlag. They defeated Diarmuid O Mathunas in a great game of hurling by 4 points. This team has had a mighty campaign, growing in confidence with every match. Well done to all the players and their mentors and supporters and all in the Juvenile Club.

Senior Hurling League v Bishopstown

Our seniors travelled to Bishopstown on Sunday morning last for their latest game in the Red FM Sponsored Cork County Senior Hurling League. The Rovers put up a very brave challenge but just came up short when defeated on a scoreline of 1-22 to 4-09. Bishopstown opening the scoring with two points but the Rovers struck the front when Michael Collins scored a goal from a 21m free, a free he won himself following a probing run at the Bishopstown defence. Points from Daniel Dooley & Michael Collins extended the Rovers lead. A great move up the field involving Stephen Boyce & Daniel Dooley resulted in Kieran Collins scoring a great goal to extend our lead to 6 points. However Bishopstown clawed their way back into the game with a succession of points from play & frees. Great defensive displays from Fergus Collins, Ryan O’Connor, Pa O’Driscoll & Liam Forde thwarted any Bishopstown goal chances. Michael Collins scored another point from long range and a brace from Jerome O’Driscoll, one a great point from a 65 right out on the sideline. Half time Bride Rovers 2-05 Bishopstown 0-11.
The second half started in whirlwind fashion, 2 points from Bishopstown followed by two cracking goals for the Rovers by Daniel Dooley & Jerome O’Driscoll had us back in front but Bishopstown struck for a goal minutes later to leave the minimum between the sides. Further points from Bishopstown extended their lead and despite points from Jerome, Dave Burke & Daniel Dooley it was not enough and we were defeated on a scoreline of 1-22 to 4-09.
