Cork County Minor Board

Preview

The coming week sees a restricted program as far as the Co Minor Championships are concerned with only two games down for decision.

On Tuesday evening Shandrum and Duhallow cross camans in Mallow in the Co Premier 1 Minor Hurling Championship Qtr/Final at 7.30. Both these sides got through at the first time of asking when Shandrum had a narrow one point victory over Bishopstown while Duhallow had it a little easier in seeing off the challenge of Sarsfields. Shandrum who took the Premier 2 Title last year will be all out to advance in the higher grade and with many of that side available this season it is well within their compass to reach the next stage. On the other hand Duhallow also have some quality players and given the performances they have shown since entering the top grade they will be well up for the challenge making it an intriguing contest with only a point or two dividing the sides at the final whistle with the winners meeting either Blackrock or Na Piarsaigh in the Semi-Final.

This evening in Kilmurry there promises to be a very interesting encounter between Valley Rvs and St Michael’s second string in the Semi-Final of the Co Minor “A” Regional Football Championship. To get to this stage Valley Rvs had impressive victories over Inniscarra and Nemo Rngs while St Michaels were equally impressive in successes over Brian Dillons and Ballinhassig. Valley Rvs will probably enter this game as favourites based on the fact that this is their first team but St Michaels have a lot of talent available to them and if they can maintain the form they have shown so far they could be more than a match for their opponents. The winner here will meet either Delanys or Gael Og in the Final.

There are also a number on interesting league games down for decision during the coming week and with the cut-off point now being extended to Sept 26th sides with an eye to qualification for the knock –out stages should have ample time to complete their program.
