3rd August Aghada v Fermoy - Copperalley

On Sunday 18th July the under 16 footballers took on Bride Rovers in Round 4 of the East Cork League. This was the lad's first game back after the break for the exams. From the start the lads took control of the game with David Twomey and Ben Mitchell fielding great ball in the middle of the field. Up front Dean Malone, Stephen Sheehan, and Aaron Hogan took their scores well. As the game progressed it turned out to be a mismatch with Youghal running out easy winners. Next to play is Lisgoold.

Youghal v Canovee Monday 12th July League Youghal Intermediate Football

Youghal played Canovee in their second last league game Monday 12th July in Copperally. To date we are starting to have an impressive few results together between championship and league, beating Glanworth (League), Ballydesmond (Championship), Ballyclough (League) and now Canovee (League).

Youghal started the game well but were finding it difficult to deal with Canovee midfielders, both players being over 6 '5 each. But with intelligent kick outs from Pat Mackey and quick accurate kick passes into the forward we started opening up their defence. James O Mahony was the first to score from a free, followed by Nigel Roche again from a free. Than came the well taken goal from Johnathon Ormonde, this move starting from a well placed kick out from Pat Mackey and excellent interlink passing up the field. James, Johnathon Ormonde and Shay Lyons got a point each just before half time. 1/5 - 0/4 at half time.

Second half say Canovee dominated for large periods of time, they were 4 points down but in 10 minute they were level after a well taken goal from their corner forward and well taken point. Youghal started to concentrate and work even harder, with the likes of Nigel Roche, Damien Ring and Ken Dempsey keeping a constant flow of ball going in.This was evident when Damien Ring broke through and got our second goal, Nigel, James, Shay Lyons x 2 got the rest of the score. Final score Youghal 2/9 Canovee 1/9.

This was a great game because we were able to play our subs and play a few new up and coming players. Great to see some young talent like Conor O Sullivan, Paul Quill and Paul O'Sullivan making an impact.
