East Cork Board Unveils New Jamesy Kelleher Cup

The new Jamesy Kelleher Cup was unveiled last night at Garryvoe Hotel at a function attended by East Cork club representatives, Board Officers, County PRO Gerard Lane and Irish/Cultural Officer Liam O Laochdha and Con Ryan of East Cork Oil (competition sponsors). Special guest on the night was Joan Cheasty, daughter of the late Jamesy Kelleher, who travelled from Waterford to attend the event with members of her family.
The original cup was purchased on November 21st 1947 by then East Cork Board Chairman Tom Barry and Treasurer Bertie Murphy, and was first presented to Carrigtwohill. In recent years the cup has become frail and prone to damage, and so the decision was taken to replace it with an almost exact replica which will be presented to the 2010 Junior A Champions for the first time.
