Erin's Own Notes

Erins Own 0-20 Fr O Neills 0-8
Erins Own opened their Junior A Hurling Championship campaign with a comprehensive 0-
20 to 0-8 win over Fr O Neills this week. This was a meaningless game as both side had
qualified for round 3 following the draw made earlier in the week. Fr O Neills were first off
the mark with a point but Mark Collins equalised with a pointed free in the fifth minutes and
Erins Own were always in control after that. Erins Own had the lions share of possession
but some poor wides and wasting a lot of scoring chances through bad decision making we
found ourselves only three points to the good at half time on a scoreline of 0-8 to 0-5.
The second half brought a much better performance with more direct play and some
excellent points by Ian Quinlan and particularly one marvellous effort from substitute Ciarán
O Leary Erins Own pulled away with an impressive tally of 20 points with Mark Collins
finishing the game on 11 points (9 of them from frees).
Erins Own also had excellent performances from Jack Sheehan, Ronan O Carroll and Niall
Scanlon in defence, Sean Crowley in midfield and Diarmuid O Flynn and Andrew Power
impressing up front.
We now await the winners of the Killeagh/Cloyne/Bride Rovers match in round three.
