Bride Rovers GAA Club Notes.

Heartache for Seniors
Bride Rovers 1-07 St.Finbarrs 0-11

Bride Rovers senior hurlers suffered a heart-breaking one point defeat to St.Finbarrs in the Evening Echo sponsored Senior Hurling championship played in glorious conditions in Pairc Ui Chaoimh on Saturday last.

Playing into a strong wind in the opening half, Bride Rovers took the game to the Barrs, following David Burke opening point in the fifth minute the Rovers had a period of dominance but amazingly we were to strike 5 wides during this period. Points from Michael Collins, Daniel Dooley & Barry Johnson had us level with St.Finbarrs at the interval, 0-05 a piece. Having played against the wind we were content with the scoreline despite having the better of the play.

We started the second half in whirlwind fashion, Daniel Dooley netted a goal in the 35th minute & Sean Ryan struck a splendid point to put us 1-07 to 0-06 in front. However much to our disbelief this was to be our last score of the game as St.Finbarrs began a fightback. The introduction of a number of subs seemed to have the desired affect and with a minute to go in normal time we were still holding a one point advantage but points from Glenn O’Connor and an injury time winner from Cathal McCarthy snatched victory from the Rovers.

Its now the back door route with a tough game against Glen Rovers on the weekend of 26/27th June.

Team:
D.Fitzgerald, S.Kearney, B.Walsh, T.Moloney, B.Murphy, B.Murphy, A.Collins (capt.), M.Kearney, B.Johnson, S.Ryan, P.Murphy, M.Collins, S.Boyce, D.Burke, D.Dooley. Subs used: K.Collins & J.O’Driscoll .
