Lios gCul 0.12 Carrig na bhFearr 1.15
Now that the clock has turned , and the evenings are starting to get brighter , we're starting to see the commencement of the evening matches . Friday last saw the first of these , as we hosted Carrig na bhFearr in a Junior Hurling League Div 1 encounter .
A sluggish start to the game cost us in the end , as we ended up playing catch up throughout . Despite dominating possession and scoring in the second half , the first period , where our touch , control and , perhaps , concentration was not as it should be , was the ultimate decider . Trailing by 1.09 to 0.03 approaching the interval , it looked as if a big defeat was facing the lads . But , a number of switches , including the move of Barry Ahearn to wing back where he excelled , and Maurice O'Connell to wing forward where he played his way into the game , both helped. Points from Kevin O'Loughlin and John Cronin , supported by resolute defending by Jer O'Connell and Charlie Smart settled their respective lines , whilst Rob Smart and Finbarr Brosnan shaded the midfield battle after the break. An unlikely comeback was on the cards , but ultimately time ran out and the early lead built up by the visitors was to prove the difference . Mike Woods and his backroom team will be happier with the outcome at the final whistle than they would have been at the short break , and the confident second half will provide a building block . Unfortunately , the second team game vs. St Itas scheduled for Saturday was cancelled .

Our Club Jackpot was not won again last week , and there was no winner of the Weekly Jackpot Prize , where the winning numbers drawn were 7, 21and 27. Consolation Prize winners last week were Moss O'Connell, Donal Brown, Helen/Dan Cussen and John Howick.

Love is certainly in the air this Spring in our little village as Cupid came calling over the Easter break. Congratulations from all in CLCG Lios gCul to Noel Connery and Aileen Ahern , and to Maurice O'Connell and Aisling McAllister who announced their engagements over the Easter Holiday period . Continued best wishes , and a long and healthy life of happiness to each of you. It certainly appears that "love is good for ya" , as both Noel and Moss have recently performed wonderfully on the field of play also . Thanks girls , and long may that continue !

This might become a regular feature . A quick question about our Club , which might commence debate and discussion . Here's this week's question . Watch out next week for the answer , and next week's question . Who Captained Lisgoold in the Junior B County Final defeat in 2003 ?
