Glenville GAA Notes

Sponsor Barry Martin and Kennedy Auctioneers LTD.

The U12 team had a good win if not hard won game against a very competent Castlelyons outfit. Glenville were hard pressed to win this game and only for a few lucky scores near the end would have to work very hard for a win. In the end they won out by a 5 point margin. Next game is a home game against local rivals Glanmire

The Minor footballers maintained their good start to the year recording their second win in the league over Aghada in Glenville on Saturday last. In a tough close encounter which was very poorly handled by a very incompetent referee Glenville lead by a point at the break. A marked improvement in the second half saw us improve our performance and we won out by a three point margin 0-10 to 0-7.Championship action is just around the corner for this team and we play Erins Own next Thursday in the first round.

The U11 team continued to impress with a great win over St Michaels on Saturday in Mahon. A great team effort with everyone playing their part. Coached by Mike Gowen this team had improved considerably and making great progress with gradual improvement shown by the players. Keep up the good work.

On Monday night the U12 team had a league game against Glanmire in Fouhy Park. Glenville held a strong first half lead and even though Glanmire reduced the lead the gap was too much to close and Glenville maintained their unbeaten run in the competition. The team play Mayfield in Mayfield on Saturday in the league at 5pm.

Junior AFC

Bride Rovers and Carrignavar played the first round of the junior football championship on Sunday last with victory going to Carrignavar by a two point margin.
