C103 report 24th Jan

26 January, 2009

Hallo all, here we are all busting for action to start. Our leagues are all ready to go with the Junior Football off on weekend of 8th Feb these will be followed by the Minor football on the weekend 22nd.

Before that we have the senior football tournament run by Glenville for the Dick Cahill Cup. The 1st game is on tomorrow in Fouhy Park starting at 2-00 between Glenville and Ballinora. On Mon Night Imokilly travel to Morneabby to take on the home side. This game has an 8-00pm start. The Munster B grade championship game between Lisgoold and Bruee fixed for today is called off.

The championship draws were made for the Junior A & B hurling and football championships and they went as follows in the East Cork Oil Junior Hurling championship we have some mouth watering clashes.

We start off with a Preliminary round between Fr. O'Neill's 2nd string and a Dungourney side that is anxious to get Jamesy back to home soil. The Loser of that game will have a tough 1st round against last year’s runners up Killeagh. Old rivals Midleton and Erin's Own meet both teams will have eyes on Jamesy, as will the next two teams Sarsfields and Carrignavar. Having lifted Jamesy for the 1st time last year and rattling the county, the Carrig boys will want to go one better this year. With out doubt this is the game of the round Sars will also fancy their chances and are my dark horses. Castlemartyr meet Cloyne’s 2nd string another tough game here. Another mega game will be the local derby between St. Ita's and Russell Rv. while the 2nd string sides Carrigtwohill and Watergrasshill lock horns. The last game of the round will have neighbours Lisgoold and Bride Rvs in a mouth watering game. Lisgoold county and Junior B champions will be looking to make an instant impact, at the expense of the 2007 B Champions. All in all a championship to look forward to roll on June.

In the Junior B championship we have more of the same in round 1 Ballinacurra the only Junior B side in the championship face neighbours Aghada in a game that could go anyway. Killeagh play their good friends Youghal. while Cobh and Midleton face one another in the battle of the towns with the winner meeting Watergrasshill in Round 2. In another interesting game Sarsfields and Castlelyons will do battle.

Castlemartyr face St. Ita’s 2nd string. Carrigtwohill and Lisgoold lock horns, As do a fancied Carrignavar side with Cloyne. Dungourney meet last years runner up St. Catherine’s who will want to build on the u21 success last year. The last game is between 3rd strings Erin’s Own and Bride Rv. this is no back door in this competition
