GAMES PLAYED
The final of the Glenville Invitational U21 tournament was played last Thursday night which involved two city teams St Vincents and Passage.St Vincents got through for a few soft goals in the first half which made it an uphill challenge for Passage.Final Score Vincents 5-6 to 1-9.The Dick Cahill Cup was presented to the victorious Vincents captain after the game.
U21 Final 2009
Eventually this game which was cancelled on numerous occasions was eventually played last Wednesday night in Carrigtwohill.Glanmire were on top for a lot of the first half and raced into a 1-2 to 0-1 lead after 10mins.Glenville hit a purple patch and took some excellent scores from Gavin Daly,TJ Forde and Willie Connolly to leave us well placed until a lapse in concentration gifted Glanmire a goal against the run of play to leave it 2-3 to 0-7 at half time.Glenville made the best possible start to the second half when James McCarthy fielded a great ball rounded his man and slipped the ball passed the Glanmire keeper for a fine individual goal.Glanmire, always looking menacing on the break, soaked up a lot of Glenville pressure and seemed to score at ease.Even so we still held a slender 2 point lead with six minutes to play until a Glanmire penalty catapulted the game in their favour. The penalty was dispatched and another goal seconds later seemed to knock the stuffing out of our side.Glanmire tacked on a few more late points to give them a deserved but slightly flattering 5-6 t0 1-11 win.
A great effort from our lads and with each and every one available this year again they should be energised come championship which will be played in a few weeks time v Cobh.

Underage games
The U12 team had a good win in the league last Sunday morning. In a close first half the lads improved as the second half unfolded and won well in the end.The U14s travelled Cill na Martra to play the home side in the first round of the Feile peil,Unfortunately things didnt go our way on this occasion and after a dreadful start in which we conceded three goals we could never recover sufficiently. Even though we competed well enough in the second half the first half deficit was to much to surmount.8-8 to 4-7 it finished up.
The U16s played Bride Rovers in the league and this proved a bit of a mismatch with Glenville too strong for the Rathcormac side winning out 3-14 to 1-4.
Games are coming thick and fast and any updates and fixtures can be got on the club text system, cost is €5 and can be got from Paud O'Neill on 087 9890964.
