Rebel Óg Coiste Under 13 Premier 1 Football League

Ballincollig 2-11 Killeagh 7-11

Killeagh Under 13’s played their final group match of the Premier 1 Football League, away to Ballincollig on Friday, 26th August. Killeagh came out on top at full time after a physical encounter.

The match was a close encounter for long spells, and it was only in the last ten minutes that we pulled away. The result means we have topped our group and now await confirmation of who will play in the semi-finals.

Best for Killeagh on the night were Patrick Dineen, Callum Power, Cormac Deane, Andrew Brenner, Cathal Brennan (superb fielding and excellent shooting), Ben Geary and Sean O’Leary.

Next up for the Under 13’s is the final Premier 1 Hurling league game away to Douglas on Friday 3rd September at 7pm, this game is a must win for a place in the hurling semi-finals.

Team: John Farquhar; Patrick Dineen, Rian O’Connor, Adam Barry; Alex Fogarty, Callum Power, Cormac Delaney; Cormac Deane (1-1), Alex Howey; Billy Guerin (0-1), Andrew Brenner (0-1), Cathal Brennan (2-4); Seanan McDonnell (1-0), Ben Geary (2-4), Rian Lane (1-0). Subs: Sean O’Leary, Tony Kenneally, Daniel Geary, Fionan O’Connell

UNDER 15 FOOTBALLERS FAIL TO QUALIFY AFTER LOSING OUT NARROWLY

This year’s Feile Football qualifiers took place in Glanmire on Saturday morning. Different to last week’s hurling qualifiers, there was 2 round qualifiers of 15 minutes a side with the top team to progress to Cork County semi-finals. Our opening game against the hosts, Glanmire. Killeagh started well and had total control of the game throughout winning quite convincingly 1-8 to 0-3.

Then, it was Carrigaline’s turn to take on Glanmire and they won well conceding 1-3.

So then, it was a winner takes all contest. Carrigaline rushed into a two point lead but the margin was reduced to one before the half time break. A chance to reassess and take stock.

Unfortunately, this half was much more difficult as Carrigaline stood strong defensively not giving Killeagh much room and they applied the pressure on to go 0-5 to 0-2 clear. We had two late chances in the game but Brian Coniry’s whistle beat us to it and Carrigaline qualified for the semi final.

All in all, it was a good day of football. Disappointing way to finish but we now look forward to a Premier 1 County Football Semi Final in two weeks’ time. Well done to the lads involved, onwards and upwards to September 12th.

CORK CAMOGIE REACH ALL IRELAND FINAL

Congrats to Laura Treacy, Chloe Sigerson & Hannah Looney on reaching the All Ireland Camogie final after a superb 0-15 to 1-11 win over reigning champions Kilkenny on Sunday. They face Galway in the final on September 12th and we wish the Killeagh ladies and all the team & management the very best of luck in the final!
