Glenville GAA notes for this week.

John O'Connor PRO

Glenville 0.12
St Finbarrs 0.13

A good lively game in Glenville on Sunday morning  last. Both teams served up an enjoyable game of free flowing football in round 3 of the county league.
There was never much between the sides from early on and this continued right throughout the game. St Finbarrs edging out on the score board at the final whistle. 0.13 to 0.12.  Hard luck, and well done on a good performance

Junior FL Glenville 1-11 Glanmire 1-11

Pretty even all through  Glenville with a late free drew level after being 5 points down at half time. Good to see a lot of new young players introduced to this level.
U15 league

Glenville 3-2 Midleton 2-9

Glenville played very well but the physical strength of Midleton told in the end as they edged out a very tough game. Well done our guys who holding their own after winning the U14 B championship last year.

U17 football championship Rebel Óg East Division 1 Round Robin - Round 1

Glenville - 0-10  Glanmire - 3-6

Glenville travelled to glanmire to take on the home side in the opening game of the u17  championship. Glenville produced a very good display throughout the game and were always a point or two ahead on the scoreboard for the most part.

However 2 goals from glanmire in the closing moments meant victory went to Glanmire. It was a disappointing result in the end for the lads but a very good and spirited performance throughout and a lot to build on for the next round Robin games v Youghal and Midleton.
Team - Ciarán O Leary, Ben O Sullivan, Donal Sheehan, Cian O Callaghan, Callum O Mahony, Brendan Lehane,   Ross Hennessy, Michael O Driscoll, Joe O Riordan, Ciarán O Riordan, Liam Foley, Sam Dennehy, Cian Cronin O Neill, Eoghan Knapp, Ben Flanagan.

Our u14s met Bride Rovers last Wednesday night (June 30th) at Pyne’s Field in Rathcormac. It was our second league game this year and after a tough outing in our first game against Clyda it was important for the lads to put in a good performance.  We were down at half time but rallied in the third quarter with some excellent scores and were nine points up at the water break.  However, the Rovers came back at us with a fantastic fourth quarter and we were hanging on at the end, eventually coming out on the right side of a one point victory.  The coaches had asked the lads for a performance and they certainly delivered, and we can look forward to the rest of the league with some confidence – overall it was a great team effort on the night, all of the lads put in a tremendous effort.

Glenville U12s had a tough day at the office against Whitechurch on Monday the 28th of June.  The boys were ahead by a point at half time but failed to capitalise on their lead, eventually losing 1-5 to 2-9. It has to be said that the opposition were a serious outfit who have been racking up big scores in both hurling and football so our lads did well to stay in touch for so much of the match. Our next outing is at home v St. Colman's on Monday the 12th of July at 7pm.
