2020 Junior B East Cork Football Semi Final
Glenville 1- 14  Cobh 2-07

A brilliant win for Glenville over a good Cobh side in a cracking game which was a great advertisement for football. This match was  held over from last year due to COVID restrictions but it was worth the wait, especially from a Glenville point of view.
Two good teams showing great heart and determination and no little skill belied their long layoff and were a credit to both clubs. The game was helped by the excellence of referee, Brian Sweeney.
Glenville got off to a flying start when a brilliant shot from Kieran O'keeffe found the net in the first minute. Cobh answered this with a goal and a point in the next 5 minutes before Kieran O'Keeffe pointed to leave the sides level with 8 minutes gone. It was nip and tuck for the rest of the first half  with 2 points from Greg Magner, who impressed throughout, as well as another point from Kieran O' keeffe and a point from Rob McKenna after a well worked team move. This left the half-time score of Glenville 1-06 - Cobh 1-05.
Shane O'Reagan, opened the scoring of the second half with a well worked point followed by a great score by centre back Ger Cahill and another from Greg Magner. Cobh struck for 1-02 which put the game right back in the melting pot with 15 minutes to go. Glenville showed their temperament keeping the home side scoreless for the rest of the match and adding 5 points themselves through Dillon McCarthy(1) , Paudie Cahill (1), Greg Magner (1) and two from Shane O' Reagan who finished the game strongly.
Great credit must go to the entire panel and Tony Sheehan and his management team for this impressive win. The final is on this weekend but the date and time has not been finalised as this was going to press. Please keep an eye on our social media for updates.

Intermediate Football League

Glenville 3.11
Ballinora 6.10

The long wait is over, as Glenville Intermediate footballers welcomed ballinora to a well prepared Glenville, on Monday afternoon last.
After the long break,  this game started very lively with scores aplentiful.
Goals were the order of the day, with both forward lines getting through for some well taked scores.  After a good first half we were 4 pts in arrears at halftime.

A good start by Glenville to the second half brought the deficit down to the bare minimum.  But a lapse in concentration let our opponents in for a soft goal, and minutes later another goal put daylight between the sides.  From here to the end,  it was even with both sides finishing with scores in what was a high scoring encounter first day out.
It was great to get back on the playing pitch, things were a bit rusty as you would expect, but we will put the head down and work hard over the next few weeks in preparation for championship.
Our next fixture is Thursday June 17th v Mayfield away at 7.30
