Junior Football League Result

Ballinacurra 1-04
Carrig Na Bhfear 3-08

The Village travelled to Carrig na Bhfear on Sunday last hoping to get back to winning ways after their recent defeat to Glenbower Rovers. The scoreline suggests that this was a one sided affair however Ballinacurra certainly matched their counterparts in the possession stakes. The ability to turn possession into scores was ultimately the difference between the sides.

Both sides exchanges points early on with Adrian O Donovan and Scott Richards on target for the Village. The scores were level on points each after 20 mins when Tommy O’Leary cut in from the left to rifle the ball to the roof of the net to leave the Village three points up. Carrig na Bhfear took over the scoring for the remainder of the half registering 1-4 without reply to leave the them 1-6 to 1-2 up at half time.

Despite Ballinacurra having plenty of possession in the second half their scores were few and far between. Attack after attack petered out with the final ball just failing to hit its target on a regular basis. Carrig na Bhfear had their scoring boots on and added two quick goals to put the match beyond the reach of The Village. Two Late points from Adrian O Donovan and Tommy O’Leary completed the scoring for The Village. Best on the day were Brian Sigerson, Adrian O Donovan, Killian Harty and Ian Cahill.

Well done to Scott Richards on his recent call up to the Cork Hurling Development Squad. It’s nice to see the club get a bit of recognition after all the effort put in throughout the year. Scotts call up follows on from last year when Kevin O’Brien received the call from the Cork Junior mentors. Continued success lads.
