CASTLEMARTYR GATHER UP MORE LEAGUE POINTS

CASTLEMARTYR......................1-16

AGHADA.................................0-8

Castlemartyr footballers made the journey to Rosdellen on Sunday last the 7th of March, and came away with their second win of the league campaign, when they overcame Aghada’s third string outfit.

After a shaky start when the Aghada men went into an early lead the Reds soon settled and were 8 points to 2 in front at half time.

The second half meandered along, but was noteworthy for the fine performance of Derek Deehan who bagged an impressive 1-4 during the course of the game. Jimmy Smiddy was a man in form too, along with Mce Hodnett and recently out of retirement, Tony Barrett, who kept his sheet extremely clean.

NEXT FIXTURE

Junior Football League Round 5 Castlemartyr v Cobh in Castlemartyr Saturday 13th March at 5pm.

JOHN WALSH TO WED HIS KERRY SWEETHEART

Friday next the 12th of March will see a mass exodus out of Castlemartyr to Ventry Co. Kerry, to witness the marriage of “Mr. Castlemartyr Gaa” himself, Johnny Walsh to Mairead, his long suffering girlfriend. In truth this is another masterstroke from Johnny, as he somehow convinced Mairead that a wedding date in the hurling closed season would be preferable, than to one in the glamour months of the summer.

Although the weather is perfect for the Kerry game of football, here’s hoping that Mairead, will have incorporated a good woolly white cardigan into the bridal dress. It promises to be a weekend to remember and everyone involved in Castlemartyr Gaa wishes Johnny and Mairead all the very best on the day and into the years ahead.

HAITI COLLECTION

The recent collection at the Dinner Dance for the Haiti Appeal raised the princely sum of €960 euro. It’s always good to help people who are far worse off than us, and it was heartening to see how well this worthy cause was supported. The money has been donated to the Haven Foundation.
