Dungourney GAA Notes

The Lotto draws are currently suspended due to Covid 19 restrictions , all the draws that have been missed will take place as soon as the lockdown rules are eased.
There are exciting plans for our Lotto draw such as paying on line and we will have news of this in the next week or two.


Membership is now due and again we are going on line with the new GAA initiative “Foireann” this portal will allow everybody to register and pay their membership from home on their smartphone or tablet.
Mike Hickey our registrar is doing Trojan work on this and it will be ready to go within days please keep an eye on Facebook and Twitter for details.


Our junior A football selectors for 2021 will be Martin Denny and Alan Kelleher,Colm Crowley will train the team

Astro turf

The new Astroturf pitch is progressing well in the village the foundation for the wall has been poured and the block layer will start shortly .... as soon as the wall is finished we will be on the home straight ! The Astro turf will be a great facility for the whole community so it's great to see it nearer completion.

Social Media Officer.

A new position has been created on the committee that of Social Media Officer ,this important job of keeping people informed is being taken on by Jack Healy.


The old container used for storage by the ball alley has reached the end of its useful life , a new 20 foot container sponsored by East Cork Crane Hire will be a big improvement.
Thanks must be given to Jim Ronayne for clearing the area behind the dressing room there's no job too big or too small for Jim and his loader. Work on the walkway is suspended till restrictions are lifted.
Rebels Bounty Draw
Cork County board are promoting the Rebels Bounty Draw this is replacing the old County board draw , there are some great cash prizes and tickets are 100 euro all information from Ber Motherway.

County Board. 

The county board hope to start the County leagues in April this of course depends on COVID restrictions ,they are also proposing to have the championship draws in Feburary with competition starting at the end of July / start of August ,hopefully we will be free of lockdowns by then .....fingers crossed.

Tom Deady.

It was with great shock and sadness that we learned last week of the death of Tom Deady formerly of Youngrove ,Tom was a teak tough defender when playing for Dungourney in his younger days and never gave up a score easily .Our sincere sympathies go to Tom's family ,may he rest in peace,
