21st February - Intermediate Hurling Challenge Eochaill v Ring

Result: Eochaill 3-11 Ring 0-11

Match Report

A very pleasing pipe-opener for our first game of the year. The selectors took the opportunity to experiment with some players in new positions and also some new players being given a run. After a good start and early scores, the team lost it’s way a bit coming up to half time. However, the team raised their game in the 2nd half with a very spirited performance. Best for Youghal were John Grace, Conor Spillane and Brett O’Mahony. The team are training very hard so here’s hoping for a very successful year.

14th February Minor “A” Hurling Inter Divisional Imokilly – Sean Dún Final

St. Vincents v Youghal

Result: 0-19 to 2-11.

Match Report

Youghal travelled to St. Vincents for this league final on Sunday 14th February. The team put in a brilliant performance on the day and came away with a two point victory. The lads battled all through the game and trailed by two points at half time 1-7 / 0-8 having played against the wind. The hurling from both sides was crisp and tough with no quarte been asked or giving.

Youghal were fast out of the blocks in the second half and were level with points from James O’Mahony who was in great form. The game was very nip and tuck and when Vincents got their second goal with ten minutes remaining the Youghal lads left us a point up with time running out. Ryan Tobin added the final score and some great defending saw us run out two point winners. A great start to the New Year for the club with the first piece of silver ware. Final score Eochaill 0-19 – St. Vincent’s 2-11.
