Junior B Championship
Dungourney 0-14. Midleton 7-15
You couldn’t have guessed at half time but Midleton beat us after a second half master class of goal taking eliminated us from this years Championship.
Dungourney were the better team in the first half despite what the scoreline says we harried and hustled Midleton and didn’t give them a second and were good value for our half time lead of ten points to 1-05. Points from Ciaran Flynn ,John Ronayne and a selection from Niall McGrath allied to some fierce defending were the high points in an encouraging performance and at half time you felt we were in with a chance of an upset.
The second half was a different story however and whatever Midleton manager Gervin Power said at half time made them a far more clinical side, with the aid of a slight breeze they went for goal at every opportunity and we couldn’t repeat the first half heroics. We never gave up though and put in a big shift but Midleton were just too strong on the night and when ref Arthur Murphy blew the final whistle the result was clear a big win for the magpies.
The team were downhearted afterward but we will pick ourselves up again as we have one match left v Carrigtwohill on Sunday evening next where they will be going all out for the elusive win.
