Pitches Reopening
The GAA have announced that pitches will be openened for non contact training from June 24th and that contact training will be allowed from June 29th.
This is great news but of course creates a lot of work for clubs ,
There will be restrictions on how we approach the use of the pitch ,a Covid Officer has been selected and willl have a lot of responsibility regarding health screening ,everybody who will be using the pitch has to complete an e learning course to familiarize themselves on the GAA guidelines and also fill out a health questionnaire.....nobody will be allowed access the pitch without these steps being taken.
A lot of work has also been done at the pitch with signage and social distancing all this is very important in these changing times.
There will be a big emphasis on hygiene and also on sanitation of gear and facilities, all these things will put pressure on committee members and team managers but are important to let our teams have a safe environment.
There is no firm news yet on when teams will return to play or indeed what format will be applied ,the GAA have announced that clubs will be allowed to play from July 12 but that is all we know at the moment.
As you know we had been drawn in a round robin group with Argideen Rangers, Mayfield and Kildorery in the Intermediate Hurling Championship and Midleton ,Cloyne and Carrigtwohill in the B hurling championship.
In the Junior A football we have Cloyne ,Castlelyons and Erin’s Own so as you can see there is a lot of matches to be played and it doesn’t look like that there will be any room for a league program .....we wait in anticipation.
We will look forward to all or any matches as a month a go it looked bleak for the year.
