Sean Murphy (Killeagh) RIP

01 April, 2020

A great sadness is felt by all in East Cork Gaa on hearing of the sad passing of one of the longest serving delegates to The Board Sean Murphy, Killeagh/Glenbower Rovers.  Sean represented Killeagh GAA at board level for over 50 years and in 2017 his passion and commitment was acknowledged with a presentation on behalf of the Board by the then Chairman Richard Fitzgerald.
At meetings when plaudits were to be extended Sean would always be among the first to contribute and he wasn't afraid to be equally vocal with his comments if he felt it was in the best interest of his Club or the wider GAA fraternity.  His passion for GAA and his beloved Club Killeagh throughout his long life was never in any question.
Sean gave outstanding service to Killeagh GAA and he was regularly found at Páirc Uí Chinnéide, whether it be at the gate selling admission tickets and match programmes or stewarding.  He promoted Scór within the Killeagh Club and also within the Division.  Sean was known by all in The Parish and beyond because wherever and whenever voluntary effort was required he would be found.
The Board extends condolence to his sisters Maura and Sheila, nieces Fiona and Grainne, extended family, Killeagh GAA Club and his many lifelong friends, in particular David (Junior) Scully who accompanied Sean to many GAA meetings, matches and events.  Seans loss will indeed be felt by all who knew him and a great void will be felt by the GAA community at his passing.
