RedFM Division 1 Hurling League

Killeagh 1-9 St. Finbarrs 5-14

A disappoint start had us on the back foot early in this top flight clash last Sunday and were trailing 2-9 to 0-3 at half time. A strong second half start saw us close the gap down to 2-10 to 1-6 after 40 minutes but unfortunately, the ball didn’t bounce well in our court and ended up going down by 17 points, a scoreline which doesn’t the performance or the effort of the lads on the field.

Let’s put this game behind us as we move onto our next game vs Glen Rovers on Sunday 22nd March. Please support.

Rebel Óg Central Under 14 Premier 2 Football League

Killeagh/Itas 5-8 Midleton 2-4

The under 14’s got their football league season off to a winning start with a solid 13 point victory over Midleton in a cold Páirc Uí Chinnéide on Friday night last. Killeagh/Itas got a sublime start in the opening 30 minutes as they led 2-5 to 1-1 at halftime with Sean Meade out top scorer with 2-2.

The second half was only two minutes old when the hosts had the ball in the Magpie net for a third time when Barry Walsh finished a great team move. And a minute later Conor Burns scored the fourth goal and quickly followed it up with a quick, classy point. And later in the half, Sean sealed his hat-trick which gave the home side the opening league points of the campaign. In defence, Michael O’Donovan, Daragh Printer & Sean Lynch worked tirelessly throughout the 60 minutes.

Ben & Barry Walsh as well as Mark Buttimer kept the pressure up throughout and supplied plenty of ball to the forward line.

Team: F Brennan; M O’Doherty, H Connon, M O’Donovan; D Printer, Ben Walsh, S Lynch; Barry Walsh, M Buttimer; A Brenner, F Murphy, C Burns; J Hyde, S Meade, C Cowhig. Subs: B Guerin, B Geary, C Landers.

With the Coronavirus (Covid-19) taking a hold of the health world (which is important to us all to protect from), please take note of the following notice of recommendations which has been sent out by Cork County Board and should be applied to all age groups throughout the club for the foreseeable future.

“In the current climate we are asking clubs to follow some simple steps in and around club activities, games and training. 1. Players should have their own water bottles rather than sharing. 2. No handshakes at the end of games. 3. Players use their own towels, soap, hand cleaner etc. when washing and drying after games.”

If you have any questions or queries, please contact a club officer regarding such.

As we now run through the month of March, club membership is now due and should be paid promptly by all club members. Please remember, all players membership should have their membership paid before attending a training session or playing a game. Membership can be paid to club Registrar Ger Scully or to any club officer.
