Glenville travelled to Fr o Neills last Saturday to take on the home side in round 1 of the East Cork u21 football championship. Glenville played against the strong wind in the first half. Fr O'Neill's started well but once Glenville got into their stride, and with good scores from Tim, Sean (2), Owen and James at half time it was Glenville 0.05 O Neills 0 04.
Playing with the elements in the second period Glenville played well and good combination play led to good scores up front by Sean (3) Dan (2) and James (3).
A physical O Neills tried hard to the end but Glenville won out this one by a 7pt margin. Final score  Glenville 0.13 Fr ONeills 0.06. There was alot of good individual performances throughout the team, but overall it was a very good team effort.

Intermediate Football League

Glenville 4.07
Dromtarrife 1.12

Glenville collected the points on offer when this tie was played in Rathcoole, home of Dromtarrife Gaa on Sunday afternoon.  A strong wind blowing across the field and slightly aided Dromtarrife in the first half.  A strong first half from Glenville was needed and that's what we got. Two well taken goals from Sean Desmond and Shane Field helped us to a halftime lead of 2.04 to 0.04. Our other scores came from Josh Cooke, James Gowen and Sean (2).
The second half started with Dromtarrife taking the game to us, but soon after Sean Desmond rattled the net with a class goal and soon after the same player was taken down for a penalty,  where the keeper made a great save. Dromtarrife rallied and rattled off a few well taken points and then converted a penalty. Almost immediately Owen Desmond got on the end of a great move to bury a goal and this was followed up by a great josh cooke point from play.  Dromtarrife kept pressing and kept the scoreboard ticking. Two monster points from distance from half back chris Healy gave Glenville a deserved win.
Final score Glenville 4.07 Dromtarrife 1.12.
A very good performance first day out from the squad.
