UNDER 13’S FALL SHORT IN A TACTIFUL AFFAIR

Rebel Óg Central Premier 2 Hurling County Final

Youghal 3-8 Killeagh/Itas 0-13

Following on from their County Football win last Saturday, our Under 13 squad headed to Youghal on a cold Saturday November morning to compete in the Premier 2 County Hurling final.

Tactical marking from the Youghal side halted our recent run of goal scoring wins due to the fact that Sean Meade was being double marked and sometimes even treble marked at times and also were without the services of Barry Walsh. The first half saw a fine display of hurling from both sides and Killeagh/Itas were 2 points up at half time.

The start of the second half saw us add to our lead with some fabulous play and fine scores and a mentionable penalty save by captain Ben Walsh. The lads played their heart out with mighty team work and determination across the pitch.

But it wasn’t to be our day and we were defeated with a final score of Youghal 3-8 to Killeagh/Itas 13 points.

We are very proud of this fine bunch of lads who gave it their all throughout the year. Many thanks to the dynamic duo of Conor Murphy and Richard Lynch who have dedicated many hours to coaching the lads in a very successful year.

Thanks for all the support throughout the year but one more week for two more games to support the Boys in Green in two hurling finals. Cilliath Abú

KILLEAGH HEALTHY CLUBS – KILLEAGH GAA CLUB, KILLEAGH/ITAS JUVENILE CLUB, KILLEAGH CAMOGIE CLUB & INCH ROVERS LADIES FOOTBALL CLUB

One of the aspects of the Healthy Clubs Initiative in Killeagh is our walking group. The walks vary hugely and are suitable for all fitness levels. We have had some great family outings including walking the Atlantic Pond (Mahon, Cork), Glenbower Woods, Beach walks and more recently Spike Island. Lots of the walks are local and we have had very pleasant trips to Lismore, Knockadoon Cliff Walk and a historic walk of Cork City followed by breakfast.

Our most challenging walks were climbing Carrauntoohill, Galtee Mór, and a group of 30 travelled to Spain to complete a section of the Camino de Santiago. New members are always welcome, if you are interested in joining, please contact Liz Sinclair 087-6137393!

NEW LIVE SCORING APP RIGHT TO YOUR SMARTPHONE

We are currently testing out a new phone application called “Whats The Scor”. We are running tests currently with the notes & notifications segments on it as well as the Live Scoring feature. We are hoping by start of year 2020, that the whole club will have the facility. It will be used at various championship & league games for the club.

There are some advertising slots for local businesses to be filled by the New Year on the new app for Killeagh GAA club. It is free to all club members. More information on this & much more can be found through the PRO or you can download the app right now, find Killeagh GAA Club and follow the action by ‘Like’ by the heart button on the bottom right of the page.

COMMISERATIONS TO INCH ROVERS

Hard Luck to Inch Rovers who lost out to Leinster Champions Naomh Ciaran of Offaly last Sunday in the All Ireland Ladies Football Intermediate Semi Final after taking the game to extra time. It is a tough decision to regrade any club but both players and management should be commended in what you have achieved by winning the County and Munster Championships. Roll on 2020!!

KILLEAGH CAMOGIE CURRY NIGHT

Well done to all in the Killeagh Camogie for organising a fundraising Curry Night which was enjoyed by many people in the Killeagh Community Hall last Saturday night. Thanks to all involved in the makings of it and everyone enjoyed it as they danced the night away. The night though was also a special night for one lady who celebrated her 90th birthday, Shelia Spillane. Her love for both Camogie and Greyhounds is still affectious, and she is a great role model in our local community. From all at Killeagh GAA Club, Happy 90th Birthday Shelia.
