East Cork Junior A football Championship
Dungourney 3-10 Carrigtwohill 0-12
Our Junior Footballers returned to championship action on Sunday morning last where they produced a good display to defeat Carrigtwohill in the second round.
Carrigtwohill took the early lead going two points in front before James McCarthy opened our account with a goal ,we had the next three scores with two points and a Sean Hegarty goal giving us a cushion as we approached half time.
Two more points and one conceded saw us reach the short whistle leading on a score off 2-04 to Carrigtwohills three points.
The second half so Carrig again on the offensive and they started to eat into our lead a fine save from James Leahy keeping daylight between us as we were a bit wayward in front of goal ,ten minutes to go and it was 2-07 to 10 points .
Brian Aherne though came up with a fine breakaway goal and a couple of pointed frees to help us triumph in the end on a score line of 3-10 to Carrigtwohills 12 points.
We now meet Lisgoold in the third round ,this match has not been fixed yet so keep an eye on the board in Dungourney village and on Facebook where we will tell you of when and where it will be played.

Family Fun day
There will be a family day in the pitch on Sunday next June 2nd starting at 1 pm, there will be something for all the family young and old with a match between Dungourney Veterans and the current Dungourney squad being one of the highlights.
So mark it in your diary Sunday next at 1 pm we are looking forward to a big attendance on what hopefully will become an annual event.

As reported before the IRON MAN competition will take place on Sunday June 23rd ,the cycle part will be passing through Dungourney and the road from Midleton to Morleys cross will be closed from approx 8-30 until 4-30.
The roads from Aherns farm in Ballinacole to Smiddys cross in Donickmore will need to be stewarded and the GAA club have been asked to supply stewards for each cross. We have made a list of GAA club members who live close to each cross and we will be contacting people to give a few hours of their day to steward for the event. The GAA club will get a small amount for each steward who helps on the day so it is a handy fundraiser for us.
