Glenville Football Club

A very busy week on the playing field with a lot of teams in action over the past week. The Intermediate, Junior, U16, U15, U14, U13, U12, and U7 football teams were all in action in various league games.

County Intermediate Football League Division 4

Glenville 1-06

Kildorrey 1-10

Glenville travelled to Kildorrey on Sunday morning last to take on the home side in round 7 of the intermediate football league. Glenville started best and were kicked the opening 3 points. Glenville were guilty off missing a lot of chances and Kildorrey came back into the game with 3 unanswered points to leave the sides level at half time 3 points each. On the resumption Glenville stared very strongly in the opening 10 minutes and kicked 1-1 without reply courtesy of Dylan. Then Glenville were reduced to 14 men for the remainder of the game and Kildorrey grew in to the game more and more after this. In the end the extra man was a major factor and Kildorrey won out in the end by 4 points.

East Cork Division 2 Junior Football League

Glenville 0-11

Grange 0-13

Glenville travelled to Rathcormac to play Bride Rovers on Thursday night last in the Junior Football league. The opening half was nip and tuck with Glenville holding the advantage by a point at the interval 7 points to 6 points. Glenvlle started the 3rd quarter brightly and raced in to a 3-point lead but it was the rovers who finished strongest to score the last 5 points and came away with the win.

Glenville 2-5

Youghal 9-7

A depleted Glenville side made the long journey down to Youghal on Saturday last. Down several key players for this game and playing against a very strong Youghal was always a difficult task. The boys gave it their best on the day, but it was Youghal who ran out worthy winners.

Midleton 1-2

Glenville hosted Midleton on Wednesday evening last in the U15 football league. The first half was an even encounter with Glenville holding a 6-point lead at the break. Glenville upped their performance in the second half and added some superb scores. Glenville ran out convincing winners in the end.

Bishopstown 7-6

Bishopstown got the better of Glenville in round 4 of the U14 football league played in Bishopstown on Friday evening last. Bishopstown’s ability to get goals was the big factor in this game. Glenville put in a good effort throughout and kicked some great scores but coming up short in the end.

Erins Own 2-5

On Wednesday evening last in Fouhys, Glenville hosted Erins Own in the U13 football league. Erins Own started the better and lead by a point at the break. However, Glenville upped their game in the second half and scored some superb scores. After a good display for our guys particularly in the second half Glenville came out on top to take the points on offer.

Killeagh Itas 7-5

On Sunday morning last, Glenville U13’s made the journey to Killeagh in the U13 football league. Glenville were up against a strong Killeagh outfit. After a good hours football it was the home side who were deserving winners on the day.

Killeagh Itas 1-5

Glenville travelled to Killeagh on Monday evening to take on the home side. After a good display our lads came, Glenville came out on top in this encounter.

U7 Football Blitz

Glenville U7’s travelled in to Pair cui Chaoimh 4g pitch on Saturday morning last for a football blitz. A great experience for all the 24 boys who played. Glenville played against Bride Rovers, Erins Own and Valley Rovers. Well done boys!!
