Glenville Football Club

A very busy week on the playing field with a lot of teams in action over the past week. The Intermediate, Junior, Minor, U15, U14, U12, U11, U10, and U9 football teams were all in action in various league and challenge games.

County Intermediate Football League Division 4

Glenville 2-15

Castletownbere 4-14

Glenville took on Castletownbere on Sunday morning last in round 6 of the intermediate football league. Glenville were quick off the blocks and rattled in 2 goals in the opening minutes, courtesy of Eddie and Dan. Castletownbere responded with 2 goals of their own shortly after. Some excellent points from both sides in the first half left the halftime score Castletownbere leading by the minimum 3-8 to 2-10. The second half was a very even affair again, the key goal coming from the west cork side which put 4 points between the sides. Glenville tried the very end to get a goal but unfortunately time ran out and Castletownbere took the points on offer. Overall a very good game and good display by all the lads.

Intermediate Football Challenge

Glenville took on Nemo Rangers in Trabeg in a challenge game also in the past week. After a very good display Glenville came out winners on a scoreline of 7-14 to 5-7

County Junior B Football League

Glenville 1-6

Grange 2-8

Glenville hosted Grange in the opening round of the county junior b football league. Playing with a strong wind the opening half, Glenville trailed at the interval by a point. Glenville worked tirelessly against the strong wind in the second half but unfortunately for Glenville, Grange were ahead on the scoreboard at the full-time whistle.

Junior Football Challenge

Glenville also played a Junior Football challenge V Lisgoold on Friday Last. A good run out for the panel, Lisgoold winning at the end on a score line of 2-10 to 1-7

Rebel Og East Minor Football League Division 2A

Our minors received a walkover from Bride Rovers in our final league game last Wednesday. This means Glenville now reach the knockout stages which will be played later in the year.

Non-Exam Football League

Glenville have entered this competition this year. Games will be played at the end of May, fixtures and opponents will be confirmed this week.

Rebel Og Central U15 Premier 2A Football League

Glenville 4-4

St Colums 1-7

Glenville hosted St Colums on Wednesday evening last, the west cork side started this game the better and raced into an early lead, however goals from Ross Hennessy and Eoghan Knapp before the break, meant Glenville led by a goal at the interval. Glenville upped there performance in the second half and added another 2 further goals by Eoghan. Glenville controlled the last 15 minutes of the game very well and ran out deserving winners in the end.

Rebel Og Central U14 Premier 2 Football League

Glenville 4-10

St Finbarrs 4-7

Glenville got the better of St Finbarrs in round 2 of the U14 football league played in Togher. Glenville, with the aid of the wind in the opening half dominated proceedings and enjoyed a healthy lead at the interval. However, on the resumption the barrs powered back into the game and went ahead. Glenville kicked some great scores in the last few minutes and came out victors by 3 points.

Bandon 8-6

On Friday evening last in Fouhys, Glenville hosted Bandon in the U14 football league. Bandon started strongly and scored several goals in the opening half to lead 4-4 to 1-7 at the break. Glenville battled gamely in the second half and scored some superb scores. After an exciting hours football, Bandon came out on Top on this occasion.

U11 Football

The U11s played in the John Kerins tournament qualifier last weekend. This was hosted in Douglas Gaa grounds. Glenville played 4 games. Wins over Glanmire, Eire Og and Duarigle Gaels and a narrow defeat to Douglas. After finishing second in the group it means Glenville now qualify for the finals on June 15th to be played in pair cui rinn. Well done lads!

U10 Football League

The U10's played Kiltha Og in castlemartyr in the next round of their football league. Two games were played here and very competitive hours football for our boys.

U9 Football League

Glenville played Inniscarra in the U9 football league played in Inniscarra. Glenville doing very well in all the 4 games played here. Weell done boys.
