Club Results:

Junior 4 league game Vs Aghada, Fouhys, March 25th

Final Score – Glenville 2 :11 Aghada 2 :13

Glenville started very strongly in this game with points from James Gowan and Paudi Cahill followed by a goal from Eoin Desmond giving us an early lead. A goal from Diarmuid McCarthy and points from Mike Murphy, Pierce Maloney and Colm Fenton gave us a 2: 06 to 0: 03 lead after twenty minutes. Aghada finished well to reduce the deficit to 2: 06 to 0:  06 at half time.

When play restarted in the second, Aghada continued their good play scoring 1: 04 to take the lead with 15 minutes remaining. Glenville kept in touch with points from Mark O’Riordan, Paudi Cahill, Josh Cooke and two from Colm Fenton to give us a late lead. Ultimately, we were undone by a late goal that gave Aghada a 2: 13 to 2: 11 wins.

This was a good competitive match that. It was disappointing to lose after our early dominance, but we can take solace that all our scores came from play and with nine different scorers.

Rebel Og East U16 A football league:

Glenville 4-12

Glenville put in a very good performance on Saturday last when they took on Middleton in round 3 of the league played in Glenville. Glenville started brightly and goals from Eoghan Knapp and Sam dennehy put the home side leading 2-5 to 0-3 at the break. Glenville kept on up the pressure in the second half and 2 further goals from eoghan meant Glenville ran out worthy winners in the end.

U21 Football Championship Semi final

Glenville 1.11

Fr O Neills 1.12

Glenville u21 footballers just came up short in the semi-final against fr o neills last Saturday evening in Cloyne. Forced to line out without 4 influential players from the 1st round it was going to be a tough assignment.  Down to 14 men after 12 minutes of play also didn't help the situation but fair play to our lads in putting in a gallant effort. Trailing by a point at half time after a lively opening, little would separate the sides. Half time score was Glenville 0.05 Fr O Neills 1.03.

The second half started good for us with some good play, and a great goal from Owen Desmond put us ahead. Fr o neills then upped the ante and through their influential forwards pegged away at the score board and with 10 minutes glenville trailed by 4 points. Sean Desmond kicked a great point and then Dylan Mccarthy kicked over a beauty, Sean then converted a free to bring it down to 1. We pressed hard but couldn't force the leveller and fr o neills won out by the slimmest of margins. Our lads can keep their heads held high after that performance and were very unlucky not to force extra time with a resilient performance right to the very end. Well done to fr o neills on their win.
