Silver Accreditationfor Glenville Football Club:

On Sunday, Richie Cahill, John Fenton and Mikey Ryan accepted the Silver Accreditation for Training on behalf of Glenville Football Club at Pairc Uí Rinn.

Cork Chairperson Tracey welcomed all the club representatives and Coaching Officer to Pairc Ui Rinn where the presentations were made. She was delighted to see so much work going on in clubs in Cork and it was great to see that work being recognised by everyone. She went on to say that the work Volunteers do within clubs is paramount for the future of the GAA and that without the effort put in by clubs we would not be where we are now. She thanked everyone for attending and the GDA’s who run the scheme on the ground with Kevin O’Callaghan as games manager heading up the team involved.

Next Kevin O’Callaghan as Games Manager thanked Tracey, the County Board and Rebel Og for all their support in the Benchmarking process each year. Since its inception we have seen an increase in numbers of clubs achieving higher standards than the previous yearand that the overall aim is for all clubs to receive Benchmarking status by 2020, This

year we had 35 Gold clubs, 49 Silver Clubs & 33 Bronze Clubs, in all a total of 117 clubs receiving Benchmarking Status for 2018.

Once the speeches were finished club Coaching Officer received their Certificates from Ronan Dwane Coaching Officer with the Cork County Board and all were able to enjoy some refreshments in Pairc Ui Rinn before heading to Pairc Ui Chaoimh for the double header.

Why “Man” is in “Colman” #someman:

Congratulations to Colman O'Driscoll on his appointment as Selector with Imokilly Senior Football.

Colman is a key part of Glenville Football Club and has given, and continues to give, countless hours to the club in so many different roles as coach, trainer, administrator and helper. He is always willing to helpwith so many teams and his read of a game on the sideline is invaluable. He has been key to the development of so many juvenile players. His appointment as Selector with Imokilly Senior Football is a tribute to one of our finest, most hard-working, decent and good-humoured members.

Club Results:

Intermediate football league

Glenville 0.10

A goal 12 minutesfrom time was ultimately the difference between the sides when Glenville and Kinsale met in the opening round of the league on a well-preparedsurface in Glenville on Sunday last. A good competitive opening half with Glenville playing against the strong wind were doing well. We lost our Captain Kevin O Neill early on through injury and he was a significant loss around the middle. Thisupset us a bit and Kinsalemade use of this with well taken scores. Ourpoints in the first half came from Dilan O Donovan (3), and Shane O Regan. Half time score was Kinsale0.09 Glenville 0.04

Glenville started the second half strong with a series of points from Dilan (2), Dan Dennehy and a great score from Shane O Regan to close the gap. Chris Healykicked over 2 wonderful points from long distance to close the gap to 1 pt. Glenville were well on top now but in a blink Kinsale got through for a greatgoal to put 4 pts between the sides. Glenville kept the pressure on but couldn't find that goal to claim a result. A pointed free from Dilan was our final score.A spirited display from this young Glenville team who kept going to the very end.

It was great to see newcomers Shane O Reilly, Chris Healy Shane O Regan and Sean Desmondbedding in very well on their Intermediate debuts and you can see the attitude and keen interest they have on the game. Along with the experienced guys and a few more to enter the fray in the coming days we look forward to an exciting year from this team.
