IRELAND LIGHTS UP – PAMELA CALLS IN TO SAY HELLO!

Last Thursday evening, January 20th saw TV Sensation & Operation Transformation Leader, Pamela McDermott Swayne call out to the 205 walkers in attendance to walk around Páirc Uí Chinnéide for the Killeagh Healthy Club’s involvement in the Ireland Lights Up/Operation Transformation initiative. There was a great atmosphere among all on the night asking the ‘local celebrity’ how she was getting on and sending her the well-wishes of the club to her on the night.

The children on the night were literally star struck, followed her all around the fields and couldn’t stop talking to Pamela but only wanted to know how she was getting on TV! Everyone enjoyed their nights walking (or jogging) and afterwards all were treated to a cup of tea and some fresh fruit in our meeting room. We hope to see Pamela back in Páirc Uí Chinnéide on another Thursday night very soon!

We are ‘lit up’ and everyone in the community is welcome for each of the next five Thursdays throughout January & February between 7pm and 9pm at no cost to you – we will be there, but will you?

KILLEAGH GAA RECEIVES GOLD BENCHMARKING AWARD

On Sunday morning, we received the confirmation that the Juvenile club received the top-level Gold Standard of accreditation for the 2018 Benchmarking 2020 Vision Initiative. This award recognizes the great work being completed by the coaches throughout the underage structure and the promotion of Gaelic Games throughout the community.

Well done to all involved in the success of this award including Juvenile Chair Sean Crowley & Secretary Olivia O’Rourke and all the coaches who put in trojan work week in week out into the Underage academies.

KILLEAGH’S MCCARTHY SCORES WINNING GOAL TO SEND CBS TO HARTY FINAL

A huge congratulations to the Killeagh-Itas players involved in last Saturday’s Harty Cup semi-final win over De La Salle. Some divine intervention was needed from midfielder Ryan McCarthy from a 60-yard free somehow ended up in the back of the net in the third minute of injury time sending Midleton CBS through to their 10th Harty final with a two point victory, 1-11 to 12 points.

They now face Christian Brothers College of Cork in the final on Saturday 16th of February (Venue & Time TBC), one certain thing though is that the Dr. Harty Cup is coming back to Cork after a 13 year wait, (hopefully it will be to the CBS)! The Killeagh-Itas players included are Olan Broderick, Dylan Hogan, Richie Landers, Padraig Leahy & Ryan McCarthy! Well done lads and keeping putting in the hard yards like you are with your studies, the results will fall your way! Your club is behind you!

TEAMS:

With the good weather continuing over the past week, some of our teams including the Senior Hurling and Junior Football teams have returned to the training paddocks to take the 2019 season head on. The Hurling & Football leagues will be kicking into gear very shortly. Meanwhile, the ball alley is getting busy too with some of our younger sides also getting back into the groove.

REMINDER FOR PLAYERS AND MANAGERS... if you are back training shortly, all players must pay their membership in full to Club Registrar prior to any match being played. Please contact any committee of above regarding this matter. If you are looking to book the pitch or hall, please contact Colman Motherway.
