‘Ireland Lights Up with the GAA’ is a national initiative to improve the health and well-being of the country through GAA clubs and communities across Ireland. GAA clubs across Ireland will be coming on board with RTÉ's Operation Transformation and turning on their floodlights between 7pm and 9pm each Thursday for a six-week period (17th January – 21st February 2019) as RTÉ’s Operation Transformation returns to our TV screens for 2019. Killeagh GAA Club is one of the clubs participating and we will have our grounds (Páirc Uí Chinnéide) open and our lights on from this Thursday January 10th until the last Thursday in February (28th) – a total of eight nights.

So, do you want to get moving and active this New Year, but you have nowhere to go? Do you find it hard to find a safe and well-lit area to go for a walk during the dark winter months? Well, Killeagh GAA club has the answer! We’re coming on board with Operation Transformation and the GAA for Ireland Lights Up. Every Thursday from the 10th January – 28th February 2019 our club will be open and lit up for you, your family and friends to come and walk from 7pm to 9pm. We want everyone to come and join for Ireland Lights Up 2019! This is also can be used as a lead up to the Killeagh 4 Mile Road Race on March 3rd! We have a 550m circuit around our main pitch – 3 laps make a mile, 9 laps make 5k. See you there?


Players from both the Senior Hurling team and the Junior Football team met in recent days to gather together to get ready for the 2019 season. A very positive turnout from all players both young and old. Training will be commencing in the coming weeks and hopefully 2019 will see more success across the fields of Cork for our players & teams.

LOTTO UPDATE: The Lotto jackpot is on the rise....

The opening club lotto draw of 2019 took place on Wednesday 2nd January, when the jackpot was €11,000 and the numbers drawn were 2, 9, 20 & 32. No jackpot winner on this occasion. The €30 Lucky Dip winners drawn were Teresa Murphy, Michael Lucey, Ann Treacy while the €30 voucher for Centra, Killeagh was won by the Geoff Gould.

The next jackpot will be €11,200 on Tuesday 9th of January. No better way to start 2019 with €11,200 in your back pocket!!! Get your €2 out, buy your lotto tickets in the local businesses around the village or buy online @ If you are not in, you cannot win...


The Killeagh GAA Golf Society are entering their 27th season & if you are interested in joining the Golf Society for their variety of trips away throughout the year for 2019, give Ray Rochford a call on 087-2330054.

Their first outing of the new season is to Fota Island on Tuesday 22nd Jan with the Cost being €40 and the timesheet is with Ray, so get your names down ASAP for best available slots.

While bookings are now being taken for the weekend trip away to Treacy’s Hotel Enniscorthy for March 1st & 2nd. They will be playing at Enniscorthy Golf club on 1st March, while they head to Bunclody Golf Club on March 2nd. The Draws for the Senior, Premier Intermediate & Intermediate Hurling and Football Championships will take place on Tuesday 15th of January at 7.30pm in Páirc Uí Chaoimh. The East Cork Draws will be made at the end of the month for the respective Junior Championships.


Congrats again to the Killeagh GAA Golf society on winning the first prize in the December Draw, but the January Draw is looming large on January 31st, which will take place in Killeagh GAA Clubhouse. On January 13th, we continue our Healthy Clubs Project Monthly Walks throughout 2019 and Number 36 is two routes around Ladysbridge. More details on our facebook page mid-week...

The "Ireland Lights Up" Operation Transformation nationwide project restarts in Killeagh GAA Grounds this Thursday 10th January for eight weeks. The event for 2019 will take place on Thursdays evenings. We will have time for a cuppa once the walking is done. We would love to see as many people as possible join us, so get up from the table/couch and get yourself down to Páirc Uí Chinnéide!


The very best of luck to the Killeagh-Itas players involved in Harty Cup quarter-final action this Wednesday with Midleton CBS as they take on Our Ladys, Templemore in Bansha, throw in at 1:30pm. The players included are Olan Broderick, Dylan Hogan, Richie Landers, Padraig Leahy & Ryan McCarthy.
