Premier 1 Fe 21 Hurling Co. Final:

Fr. O’Neills 3:24 v Midleton 4:18 AET

What an unbelievable couple of weeks it has been for the Club and all involved in it, if we were told on the morning of Sunday the 25th Nov. prior to playing Charleville in the 3rd rnd. of this years Premier 1 C/ship. that we would win the C/ship. but to do so we would have to beat Charleville, Sars. 3 days later, Blackrock another 3 days later and Midleton a week later AET we could be forgiven for throwing our eyes up to heaven and dismissing such talk as the stuff of daydreams, but such is the stuff of fairytales and to be fair to this particular bunch of players and their Mgmt. Team we should never have doubted them because from the age of 8 / 9 these lads have always shown the desire, talent and commitment required to succeed, when they have got knocked down at different times down through the years time and time again they have got up and faced up to the next challenge full on, They are hugely spirited and full of character and are a seriously dedicated group in both sport and life in general, they are a credit to their Families, Parish and Club and they deserve all the plaudits they receive. When the final whistle sounded in Pr. Ui Rinn on Sunday evening last the relief and outpouring of emotion from all our members and supporters was hugely evident with a lot of the players themselves barely able to control their emotions, the joy and pride on the faces of their parents and those closely involved with the Team had to be seen to be believed. As for the game itself nothing more can be added to what has already been printed and said by all the media people and reporters on the Radio that were present. All that can be said from a Club point of view is that to a man each and every one of the Team, panel and Mgmt. Team have done something that most of us could only ever dream about we take our hats off to ye and have huge pride in yere accomplishments over the weekend especially in the manner of yere victory when yere backs were to the wall ye stood up and were counted, take a bow lads. Credit also must go to the Midleton players and Mgmt. Team for the part they played in the game and it wont be long before they will have their day in the Sun, needless to say as soon the lads arrived back to a tremendous reception in Ladysbridge around 7:30pm having had a meal after the game the celebrations started in earnest and carried on late into the night in Ballymacoda and later again in some of the players homes with more of the same on Monday, Xmas has come early for our Club its members and all its supporters and do you know what its dam nice.
