Prem. Int. Hurling 2018:

Fr. O’Neills 2:14 v Charleville 4:17

Commiserations to our Prem. Intermediate Hurlers on their defeat to a physically strong Charleville outfit last Sat. evening the 6th in the excellently prepared Kilworh Club grounds in the ½ final of this years C/ship. The final scoreline is very harsh on our Boys effort and performance in the game with Charleville only a pt. up with 5 mins of normal time remaining but credit to Charleville they finished out the remaining mins and injury time very impressively to set themselves up for a County Final meeting v the winners of the Courcey Rvrs. v Valley Rvrs. ½ final replay. A huge word of Thanks to all the Boys and their Mgmt. Team for the huge effort put in all year improving on last years run to the ¼ final by getting to the ½ final and who knows with a bit more hard work and a bit of luck we just might take the next step next year.

Senior Hurling Co. C/ship.

Congrats and well done to all involved with the Imokilly Snr. Hurlers on their superb win over Midleton in last Sundays Co. Final especially our own boys Mark, Deccie, Ger. Billy, Daniel and Joe.

Juvenile Club:

Fe 14A Hurling Co. Final

All roads led to the Barr’s last Friday night for the Rebel Og U14 A Hurling Championship Final against Kinsale which we played under lights with an 8pm throw-in. It might have been cold along the side lines but the match took off at a great pace with both teams fighting hard for everything. Our right half back, James O’Brien made a vital goal line clearance in the early minutes. Michael Wall was a commanding presence in the half back line competing fiercely for the puck outs and winning more than his fair share. We took the lead in the 10th minute through a well taken Paudie O’Sullivan free. Kinsale responded quickly though and went 01-03 up in little enough time. Jack Finn made some great clearances at corner back. Sustained pressure from O’Neills earned Paudie another chance in the 20th minute to pull a point back for his team which he duly converted. Another well executed free near the half hour mark had us level at 0-3 to 03. Kinsale rallied superbly though and took a 3 point lead from good scores into the break with Mark O’Neill making a fine save off his line just before half time.

Kinsale struck a dagger into O’Neills hearts with a goal and a point right after half time from which we never really recovered. Despite great fielding from Conor O’leary in midfield and persistent harrying of the Kinsale Centre Forward by Christian Millerick, Kinsale grew in strength as the game went on and pulled slowly clear with well taken scores. A point from Eoghan Rooney and a goal from Michael Wall added to the O’Neills scoreboard but try as they might, O’Neills lost out to a fine performance from Kinsale. Heads should be held high amongst the team though for winning an East Cork title and getting to a county final at an early stage in their careers. Onwards and upwards for next year lads.

U9 Football

Our U9s rounded off a great football season taking part in a well run Blitz last Saturday in Lisgoold. Winning both of their games against Lisgoold and Carrigtwohill the boys have really progressed this year after a tough start. Let's keep it going and finish the hurling with a bang lads.
