Lisgoold News

02 December, 2009

In a weekend we saw Newtown scrape past Ballygunner by 2 points in the
Munster senior hurling final, after a storming comeback by the men from
Waterford. It seems the cork lads were rattled, but Ben and Jerry steadied
the ship once more to get over the finishing line and to claim an
incredible 3rd Munster title of this decade. They will play Ballyhale
Shamrocks of Kilkenny in the All-Ireland semi-final – a mouth-watering
clash in prospect. Glanworth lost out in a very bruising encounter in
Tralee in the Munster JAFC semi-final against Castlegregory. Donoughmore
(Who conquered Inch in the County Senior Final) lost to Monaghan champions
Donaghmoyne in the all-Ireland ladies football final, and in Camogie
Milford gained revenge over St.Catherines from the senior championship
final defeat in the senior league Camogie final as they beat the ladies
form Ballynoe by 1-8 to 0-5. As for Lisgoold, our minors had their game
came called off due to a bereavement in the Iveleary Club. Their game is
due to be played this weekend please check locally for details. Our juniors
had their hurling league final moved to the 11th of December at 7.30pm in
Riverstown, so another date to look forward to.
