Bride Rovers GAA Club Notes.

Well Done Jackpot Winner Ella.

Last Tuesday night November 24th was a great night for young Ella Barry from Knocknabooley, Rathcormac. Her Ticket in the Bride Rovers GAA Club Weekly Lotto Draw had the numbers 5, 12, 13,and 25 and these were the numbers which came up thus winning Ella a smashing pre Christmas Jackpot of €10,200. Well done Ella, her parents are of course Liam and Anne Marie- both steeped in GAA activities. Reports that the Jackpot prize has been put on a bet concerning the winners of next years Munster Senior Hurling Championship tie between Cork and Tipperary could not be confirmed at the time of going to print. The winners of €30 each were

Neilus McHugh, Watergrasshill

Michael Collins, Mullentoura

Sinead Clancy, C/o Quinn Healthcare

Ellie Johnson, Ballyreidy

Jackie McCarthy, Rathcormac.

The Jackpot for Tuesday December 1st was €1000 at Denis Barry’s Bartlemy.

NO Fixtures.

Last weekend we had no fixture as no progress was made with either the East Cork JBFC Final or the Co Minor Hurling League Semi Final. The dates for both of these games are still uncertain due to availability of pitches. Another further complication with the Minor game is that Dromtarriffe, our opponents are due to play a Duhallow JBHC semi final next Sunday. In any case the Minors have training on this coming Friday night at 7.30 in the Main Pitch.

The annual general meeting of the Bride Rovers Club will be held on Thursday week December the 10th in the Clubrooms at 8pm sharp. 2009 was a disappointing year for the Club after the ‘high’ of reaching the Co SH Final in 2008. We did defeat Castlelyons and Blackrock in the SHC, having lost the opening game to Killeagh. We were beaten by CIT in a game where we simply never got into top gear for some unknown reason. On the Football side we lost out early in the JAFC but are in the JB Grade final with our second team. We lost in u21 at the Final stage in Football and the semi final in hurling.

The East Cork Final of Scor na nOg – U17, will be held on Friday 11th Dec. Anyone who wants to represent the Club in this competition please contact any Club Officer as soon as possible.

Best Wishes.

All in the Bride Rovers GAA club send our best wishes to Joe Morrisson who has retired after many years in business at Cork Road Fermoy. Joe was a great friend of the Club and was never found wanting when it came to giving sponsorship to the Club.

Glory Newtown

For the third time this decade Newtownshandrum have been crowned Munster Senior Club Champions. At Thurles last Sunday they survived a late Ballygunner rally to win the Provincial title by two points. They are certainly team of the decade in Cork. They will meet Ballyhale Shamrocks in the All Ireland semi-final in February with a possible St. Patrick’s Day Final encounter against Portumna awaiting the winners.
