Red FM League for 2017:

Cork Red FM League Qtr Final, Killeagh 1-18 Newtownshandrum 3-08 played in Kildorrery on Friday Oct 6th @20.00 Our senior team played magnificently to overcome Newtown in this quarter-final game and now progress to the semi-final stage where they join Erins Own and Glen Rovers. We await the outcome of the other quarter-final between Sarsfields and Na Piarsaigh to see who will take up the fourth semi-final berth. On Friday night, our senior hurlers played the quarter final of the RedFM Senior Hurling League vs Newtownshandrum at Kildorrery. In what was a decent night for hurling, the Boys in Green got away to a better start (wind-assisted) with great scores from Eoghan Keniry, Gary Leahy and a goal from Andy Walsh saw Killeagh open a 1-7 to 0-1 lead after 18 mins. Newtownshandrum returned the closing 13 mins in hot style with a goal on the 28th minute to leave the half time score Killeagh 1-12 Newtownshandrum 1-6. Newtownshandrum got a quick getaway with a goal in the opening minutes. But good replies from Kevin Murphy, Dan Landers and Eoghan Keniry making the umpire to rise the white flag at different stages in second half. The last puck of the game was a goal for Newtownshandrum but was too little too late as the East Cork side won on a score line of Killeagh 1-18 Newtownshandrum 3-8. We now move into a county senior semi-final in the league with a game over our first-round championship victors Erin’s Own. This fixture will be finalized over the next week. Please keep your support up for the lads. Players and management are very appreciative of the support throughout but our year isn’t finished. Keep shouting for the boys in green.
