Premier Intermediate Hurling Co. C/ship.

We had a disapointing end to our C/ship. campaign for this year when defeat was our lot in last Sat. Nights 1/4 final clash with Ballinhassig in the excellently prepared Midleton venue and on an evening made for Hurling. In a tight and tough affair with the sides level several times during the course of the game it was our opponents who finished the stronger in the last couple of minutes, a draw would probably have been a fairer result but as in life you don't always get what you deserve still all is not lost for the year as we are very well placed in the Div. 1 Hurling Lge. if our remaining 2 Lge. games were to go our way we would have a major say in the destination of the Hauley Donnelly Cup we have also qualified for the Final of the Abernethy Cup so there is still some Silverware up for grabs. The best of luck to Ballinhassig for the rest of the Championship.

Cul Camp 2017

A very successful Culcamp was held last week in Aghavine. As in the past few years numbers have been increasing with over 180 boys and girls in attendance this year. The weather wasn't as kind as recent years but this did not dampen the spirits, the well organised coaches kept things ticking over for the week. Dave Dorgan did alot of groundwork on the lead up to the camp, and with the help of Ciara O Neill who coordinated the day to day running of the camp everything went smoothly. Thanks to all

the coaches and helpers and parents and to the committee members who were there throughout the week. Mark Coleman Cork Senior Hurling star and Orla Cotter Cork Camogie star arrived on the Friday there was a questions and answers

session, signed autographs and plenty photos were taken with the two Cork stars, I'm sure all who attended will have great memories of the week.

U16 Premier 2a Hurling Championship.

Fr. O'Neills 1:04 v Newcestown 2:12

Hopes were high going into this preliminary tie played in Ballincollig, after a good League

campaign we were hopeful of a positive result on the day. Newcestown were certainly

up for this one as they settled in to the tie with the opening points. Our forwards were tightly marked which meant we only registered two points in the first half. It was 4 points to 2 coming up to half time but the concession of a sloppy goal was the turning point as Newcestown went in at the break aheah on a scoreline of1:04 to 0:02. During this half Daire Higgins in goal Ceolan Murphy, Sam Shanahan and Sean O Riordan in the fullback line cleared alot of ball, Jake Shine with a point from a free and one from play being our only scorer. Newcestown got some early points in the second half and a second goal to put this game was out of sight. Peter Hassett with a goal and John Millerick with a point

gave a final result of 2:12 to 1:04. Overall looking back on the game we just never got going we also missed a few scoreable frees and two very good goal chances in the first half were not taken with the concession of the goal before half time being telling factors. We now meet the winners of Lisgould v Erins Own in the plate competition in the coming weeks.
